Georgia Swimming & Diving Set to Host Emory

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia swimming and diving teams will wrap up the dual-meet portion of 2015 as they entertain Emory on Friday. The meet at Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center will begin at 5 p.m. There is no cost for admission.

Georgia’s squads are both off to 3-0 starts with wins over North Carolina, Florida and Georgia Tech and they are each ranked third in the CSCAA/TYR poll. Emory’s women are No. 1 and its men are No. 2 in the Division III rankings.

Friday’s meet will mark Georgia’s final competition before the UGA Fall Invitational Dec. 4-6 in Athens. Georgia’s next dual meets will be on the road at Texas A&M on Jan. 18 and at Texas on Jan. 19. Its first home dual of 2016 will be against Tennessee on Jan. 23.

“Training has been going well and this meet will be about the little things for us – good starts, good turns, good relay exchanges,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “We need to look at some people in some other events before the invite, so we’ll put some people in some different places. But the goals don’t change. We want to see our kids racing hard, finishing strong and posting fast times.”

The Lady Bulldogs will be attempting to extend their UGA all-sports record of 96 straight dual or tri meet wins at home. The streak began against Emory on Nov. 8, 1995.
