8 Top 24 Scratches Mix Up First Session Of Minneapolis Pro Swim

The biggest stars of the meet are all still swimming, but there are a handful of big names not in this morning’s heat sheet. Michael Phelps will be swimming the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Katie Ledecky will be swimming the 200 freestyle and the 400 IM.

Phelps is expected to swim the 200 around 9:30 central time and the 100 butterfly around 10:15 central.

Eight swimmers that were seeded in the top 24 have decided to scratch from the first day of the 2015 Minneapolis Pro Swim. All eight scratches came from the 200 freestyle or 100 breaststroke. The 100 butterfly and 400 IM were not affected.

In the women’s 200 freestyle, the 14th and 15th seeded swimmers, Sarah Henry and Katerine Savard, are no longer entered in the event. The pair had nearly identical seed times at 1:58.70 and 1:58.72.

In the men’s 200 freestyle, the only scratch came from the the number five seed, Zane Grothe.

Molly Hannis, the eight seed in the women’s 100 breaststroke, will not be swimming, along with the 11th seed, Tera Van Beilen. On the men’s side, Brad Craig (#6) is no longer entered in the 100 breaststroke. Marat Amaltdinov (#18) and Lyam Dias (#23) also scratched from the men’s 100 breaststroke.
