Georgia Swimming & Diving All Set For SEC Championships

The Georgia swimming and diving teams will be seeking league titles as they compete in the Southeastern Conference Championships Tuesday through Saturday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
The meet will begin Tuesday with diving prelims at 11 a.m., followed by diving and swimming finals starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdaythrough Saturday, the swimming prelims will open at 10 a.m., followed by diving prelims at 1 p.m. and all finals at 6 p.m.
The ThursdaySaturday finals can be seen on SEC Network +. All sessions will be available on Watch ESPN live stream.
The No. 4-ranked Lady Bulldogs (8-1, 4-0 SEC) have won the conference title 12 times overall. The No. 5 Bulldogs (7-1, 3-0 SEC) have been second or third 35 times, including each of the last five seasons.
“This is the best conference meet in the country,” Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. “It’s a rugged meet with everyone scraping for every point over five days. It’s like a mini-NCAAs. You’re going to see a lot of quality performances. I’m confident that we will be pretty tough at this meet. Our kids have trained extremely hard and I’m positive that they will give us everything they have. There will be a lot of great teams ranked in the top 20 at this meet, and we’re thankful that we’re among them.”
Olivia Smoliga (50 and 100 freestyle), Chase Kalisz (200 and 400 individual medley) and the women’s 400 freestyle relay have the nation’s top times in their events. In addition, Stephanie Peters (500 freestyle); Chelsea Britt (200 butterfly); Kevin Litherland (500 freestyle); Kalisz (200 butterfly); the women’s 200 freestyle and 200 and 400 medley relays; and the men’s 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays have conference-leading times entering this week’s meet
