SAN JOSE, Calif.– The Fresno State women’s swim and dive team earned a hard-fought win in their final dual meet of the season against conference opponent San Jose State on Saturday afternoon, 151-105.
How it happened
The 400 medley relay started it all off for the day, Fresno State got ahead with the win. The relay group of Clark, Lung, Oke and Pulkkinen touched for a time of 3:37.99, almost three second faster than the second place Spartans.
Three Bulldogs slid in the top spot in the 1000 free with Laura Kalmar taking the crown followed by Riley Baldwin and Caroline Grimsley. San Jose’s first event win came in the 200 free but Fresno State took the next two. Miller Lung’s first win came quickly in the 50 freestyle, the Clovis native dropped a 22.76.
Pulkkinen also earned herself two event wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. In true Bulldog behavior, Aliz Kalmar was the event winner in the 200 breaststroke.
It was all Fresno State in the 500 freestyle as freshman Grimsley earned her first collegiate event win with a time of 5:02.65. Ava Elliott touched for second with a time of 5:04.16 while Ella Turner placed third (5:12.02). Last win for the ‘Dogs came from Miller Lung in the 200 IM, out touching her opponent by one-tenth of a second.

- Three ‘Dogs scored more than 10 points with Mackenzie Miller Lung & Jenna Pulkkinen leading each with 18 points, Aliz Kalmar totaled 14 points while Ryley Clark and Caroline Grimsley totaled 13 and 12 points, respectively
- Freshman Caroline Grimsley earned her first event win in the 500 free

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Ela Freiman swam her fastest 200 butterfly, and the San José State women’s swimming and diving team won five races on Senior Day against Fresno State at the SRAC on Saturday.
- Freiman won the 200 butterfly with a career-best time of 1:58.47, the second-fastest time in school history. She
- Stephanie Sifferman won the 200 freestyle at 1:49.66, tying for the 11th fastest time at SJSU.
- Genevieve George won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:57.54, her best time this season and still ranks as the third-fastest time.
- Ava Bautista improved her 100 butterfly time to 54.20, winning the race and moving up the all-time list to fifth place.
- The 200 freestyle relay team of Lais e Silva, Lillie Grover, Nikki Lahey and Dalton Sickon, finished the dual meet with a win, swimming the race at 1:32.80.
- Five Spartan seniors were honored before their final meet at the SRAC – Mya Azzopardi, Luna Balbuena, Andreea Dragoi, Lais e Silva and Ela Freiman.
