Devin Wise of Madison, Mississippi has announced his verbal commitment to swim at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi for the fall of 2018. He will be joining their class of 2022. Delta State competes as under NCAA Division II.
Wise swims for Performance Elite Aquatics (PEAQ) and will be their first swimmer to swim at the collegiate level. His best events include the 100 yard freestyle and 200 yard freestyle, and he will join a strong sprint and middle-distance group at Delta State.
His best times in both the 100 yard and 200 yard freestyles would have placed him just outside of the finals at last year’s New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championship meet, but he has shown strong improvement across the sprint freestyles in the last several years.
Wise also competes for Germantown High School, and at the 2017 MHSAA Swimming Championships as a senior, he placed fourth in the 200 SCY freestyle (1:47.92) and fourth in the 100 SCY freestyle (48.97). He was also a member of the 10th place 200 yard freestyle relay.
Wise’s best SCY events include:
- 50 free – 24.36
- 100 free – 48.97
- 200 free – 1:47.92
