Dawson Yocum of Flower Mound, Texas, where he swims for Lakeside Aquatic Club, has announced that he will be swimming for Westminster College beginning in the fall of 2021. Westminster is a DIII school in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania that competes in the Presidents’ Conference.
“I’m so excited to announce that I have decided to verbally commit to Westminster College. I’d like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and all of the coaches that have helped me get to this point. I knew right away that I wanted to go to this school and wanted to be a part of their amazing swim program. I’m looking forward to the fall. GO TITANS!”
Swimming for his high school, Flower Mound High School, Yocum has twice qualified for the state’s 6A Regional Championships. His best times in his two primary events, the 50 and 100 free, both came from that meet in 2021. In the 50 free he dropped nearly half a second to touch in 23.14, while in the 100 he broke 51.0 for the second time in his career, finishing in 50.46.

The Titans finished as the runner-up at the 2021 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships, falling to only Grove City College. While Blaine Sorrick, who finished on the podium in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles will graduate this year, Yacum will have one year of overlap with Jacob Musselman, who finished 4th in both the 50 and 100.
At the 2021 Presidents Athletic Conference Championships, Yocum would have finished in the top-16 of the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles.
