HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team racked up impressive wins over UMass (238-97) and Northeastern (212-124) this weekend as part of the Tate Ramsden Invitational.

“This weekend is a wonderful celebration of the broader Dartmouth swimming and diving community,” said head coach Milana Socha. “It was great to see so many family members, friends and alumnae in the stands supporting our current student-athletes and helping honor our senior at their last home meet. The women saw a smattering of records — pool, meet and lifetime best — throughout the weekend. It was good to see them step up and keep competing throughout the weekend and we are looking forward to our last regular season competition at the end of the month.”
Izzy Mundee’s performance in the 1650 freestyle was a huge highlight as her time of 16:33.76 was a new pool record, also a new lifetime best and good for second in program history.
Meanwhile, Carinn Bethea picked up a pair of meet records. They came in the 200 freestyle (1:48.89) and 500 freestyle (4:56.01), as part of her four overall event wins. She was also part of relay wins in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
The Big Green had an all-time top 10 program performance:
- #2 in the 1650 Freestyle – Izzy Mundee 16:33.76
Dartmouth also had a number of lifetime bests:

Dartmouth impressed in diving as well, with Maggie Lambdin winning the 1-meter and 3-meter with scores of 276.10 and 331.05, respectively, which were also NCAA Zone qualifying scores. Milly Kirkman’s 1-meter score of 271.35 gave her a zone qualifying score for the first time this season, and in her career for the first-year.
The Big Green return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31 when they close out the regular season at Columbia.
HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men’s swimming and diving team picked up an impressive 244-88 win over UMass this weekend as part of its annual Tate Ramsden Invitational. The Big Green won 16-of-18 events on the weekend, only falling short in one swimming and one diving event.
Among the winners was Jacob Turner, who had three individual wins and was part of a relay victory. Tommy Erwin was victorious in three individual events as well. To read all the winners, check out the full results here.
“This meet honors former team member Tate Ramsden ’17 who passed away in 2015,” said head coach Milana Socha. “It is a time when our entire DCSD community comes together to celebrate the deep connections and passion that folks in our program have for one-another. Our men competed well, achieving many meet and personal records. There were a lot of exciting swims and dives this weekend, but senior captain Yan Dvoretskiy deserves a special shoutout for challenging himself by racing in every event of the meet. As we look forward from here to our last dual meet of the season, I am excited to see how our men keep building from here.”
The Big Green picked up a number of meet records in the process, all of which were event winners as well. Included was Erwin in the 500 freestyle relay (4:28.01), Turner in the 100 butterfly (48.51) and Andrew Chou in the 100 backstroke (48.05).
Two relays picked up meet records as well. One was the free 200 freestyle relay team of Logan Pack, William McClelland, Andrew Chou and Colton Rasmussen who finished in 1:22.34. The other was the 200 medlay relay team of Chou, David Kushnirsky, Turner and McClelland, who finished in 1:31.04.

Hanover, N.H. – The Northeastern swim and dive team (4-1) finished the Tate Ramsden Invitational, finishing with a 238–97 victory over UMass and falling to Dartmouth 212–124.

Freshman Alex Fuller led the Huskies in the sprint events, winning the 100 Free in 50.74 and capturing first place in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.97 in the finals.

Senior Anna Verlander added a pair of victories for Northeastern by claiming the 100 Back in 56.00 and the 200 Back in 2:02.19 during finals competition.

The Huskies swept the podium in the 100 Back as sophomore Delaney Alonso placed second in 56.96 and freshman Sophie Bromley followed closely behind in third at 56.97.

In the 400 IM, freshman Abigail Gowern earned a second-place finish after touching the wall in 4:30.59 to secure a key finals performance for Northeastern.

Northeastern’s depth showed in the 200 Back, where Bromley placed third in 2:03.26 and Alonso followed with a fourth-place swim just outside the podium.

The Huskies’ relay squad of Alex Fuller, Anna Verlander, Siena Griffiths and Kotoko Blair captured first place in the 400 Free Relay with a finals time of 3:28.51.

Freshman Siena Griffiths recorded a third-place finish in the 200 Free after posting a time of 1:54.46 in the finals.

Graduate student Elisabeth Bendall secured a third-place finish in the 100 Breast with a finals swim of 1:06.10 to contribute valuable points for Northeastern.

In the 1650 Free, Gowern placed third overall with a strong distance swim of 17:12.05 during the finals session.

The Northeastern A team of Delaney Alonso, Elisabeth Bendall, Alex Fuller and Kotoko Blair finished second in the 200 Medley Relay with a finals time of 1:44.03.
The Huskies will compete next Saturday, Jan. 24 when they host Stony Brook for Senior Day at Barletta Natatorium.

HANOVER, N.H. – University of Massachusetts swimming and diving concluded its time at the Tate Ramsden Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth, on Saturday afternoon at the Karl Michael and Spaulding Pools.
The Minutewomen fell to Dartmouth, 263-71, and to Northeastern, 238-97, while the Minutemen faced a 244-88 loss to Dartmouth.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
Day One
Competition began with the 500 freestyle, with sophomore Kendall Gilbert (5:27.52) and senior Brynn Morris (5:46.60) took 11th and 12th, respectively.
Junior Beren Cakiroglu placed eighth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.21. Sophomore Courtney Tedesco swam into fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.12, as junior Lindsay Burbage finished 13th with a time of 25.12 and junior Diya Ackerman-Vallala was 14th with a time of 25.19.
During the relays, the team of Ackerman-Vallala, Burbage, Tedesco and Cakiroglu combined for a time of 1:37.28 in the 200 freestyle relay to take fourth.
Day Two
Freshman Flora Klimesch placed 12th in the 100 butterfly to start day two of individual events, before sophomore Maria Grishaeva earned the gold in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:27.68.
Grishaeva took fifth later in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:06.69. The 1,650 freestyle saw freshman Kate Baranova take eighth with a time of 18:57.98. Grishaeva then placed seventh in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.96.
Cakiroglu secured third-pace with a time of 52.54 in the 100 freestyle, as junior Olga Stoura placed ninth with a time of 56.01.
The 200 medley relay team of Grishaeva, Baranova, sophomore Hannah Schoenauer and Tedesco finished fourth with a time of 1:46.51. The 400 freestyle relay team of Ackerman-Vallala, Schoenauer, Tedesco and Cakiroglu took third with a time of 3:33.71.
Men’s Swimming & Diving
Day One
Freshman Miles Smyczek took sixth in the 500 freestyle with a time 4:44.55, while fellow classmate Hudson Bawduniak was ninth with a time of 4:50.55.
In the 200 individual medley, junior Cole Brooks had a personal-best time of 1:54.62 to place fourth, followed by junior Jude Boukarroum (1:56.03) and freshman Bode Groh (1:56.49) in sixth.
Senior Sammy Quigg was fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.99. Sophomore Chase Keeler finished eighth with a time of 21.81, while freshman Chase Dai was ninth with a time of 21.84.
In the relay events, the 200 freestyle team of Quigg, junior Aidan Shepston, sophomore Liam Ryason and sophomore Nate Derby placed fourth with a time of 1:24.49
Day Two
Junior Aydin Erkan kicked off day two for the Minutemen with a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 49.95, as Brooks took seventh with a time of 50.11 in the event. Quigg grabbed the bronze medal in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:04.29.
In the 200 freestyle, freshman Sota Kawahata swam into third with a season-best time of 1:42.01, while fellow classmate Hudson Bawduniak finished fourth with a time of 1:42.97. freshmen Eli Panachyda (57.66) and Bode Groh (57.70) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.
Brooks placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.70. Kawahata swam into third with a time of 16:26.37 in the 1,650 freestyle, before Bawduniak earned third-place with a time of 2:06.91 in the 200 backstroke.
The 100 freestyle saw junior Alonso Montori place seventh with a time of 46.58 and sophomore Liam Rayson finish eighth with a time of 47.31. Panachyda sat atop the podium in the 200 breaststroke with the sixth-best time in program history of 2:00.50.
Erkan closed out the individual events with a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:49.37.
The 200 medley relay team consisting of Brooks, Dai, Bawduniak and Quigg earned the silver with a time of 1:31.48. The 400 freestyle relay team of Brooks, Rayson, Shepston and Quigg took second with a time of 3:04.55.
On The Boards
Day One
Senior Shreeya Sinha grabbed the silver medal in the three-meter dive with a score of 264.35. Sophomores Khrystyna Yaremyn (252.10) and Danielle Guerin (245.05) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the event.
For the Minutemen, sophomore Alex Kreidler secured the gold with a six-dive total of 317.50 in the one-meter dive. Freshman Carson Harrington followed in second with a total of 298.35 in the event.
Day Two
Guerin was third in the one-meter dive with a score of 252.80, as Sinha placed fifth with a total of 245.35.
Harrington garnered the silver for the Minutemen in the three-meter dive with a six-dive total of 327.15.
Up Next
The Massachusetts swim and dive team prepare for its final home meet and Senior Day against Fairfield on Saturday, January 24, at Joseph R. Rogers Jr., Pool. The meet is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
