BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Bucknell women’s swimming & diving team improved to 3-0 (2-0 PL) on the young season with a dominant 190-105 win at Binghamton on Saturday. Bucknell went 1-2-3 in four events, had 12 individual event winners, captured a victory in the 200 medley relay and saw nine more runners-up finishes in dual action against the Bearcats.
Alexandra Ritorto was part of three event wins, including individual victories in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Megan Leyden (50 freestyle & 200 medley relay) and Esme Hunter (100 backstroke & 200 medley relay) both captured two event wins.
Sabrina Vumbacco (100 butterfly), Sophia Donati (200 freestyle), Liz Dokina (200 breaststroke), Skye Sunderhauf (200 butterfly), Emma Feld (500 freestyle), Claire Kehley (1000 freestyle) all captured individual swimming wins as well.
The Bison took first in both dives with Gina Hinthorn (1-meter dive) and Meghan Catherwood (3-meter dive) picking up wins.
Bucknell placed second in nine more events to score its highest point total this season. Bucknell claimed the top three spots in the 50 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, the 200 butterfly and the 3-meter dive.
Bucknell is off next weekend before returning to competition on Saturday, Nov. 5.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Bucknell men’s swimming & diving team remained unbeaten this season at 3-0 (2-0 PL) with a 173-127 win over Binghamton on Saturday. The Bison claimed nine event wins, grabbed nine second-place finishes and went 1-2 in both the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke.
Leo Kuyl, Chris Fabian and reigning Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week John Gehrig were each part of two event wins as well as two runners-up finishes. All three took part in Bucknell’s winning 200 freestyle relay and the second-place 200 medley relay along with Justin DiSanto.
Kuyl also won the 50 freestyle and took second in the 100 butterfly. Fabian came out victorious in the 100 backstroke and placed second in the 100 freestyle. Gehrig earned a win in the 200 freestyle and was second in the 200 breaststroke.
Braden Beagle (200 backstroke), Alex Crossing (200 butterfly), Andy Dorsel (400 IM) and Jack Krug (1-meter dive) rounded out Bucknell’s event winners. Krug was also a runner-up in the 3-meter dive.
Bucknell is off next weekend before returning to competition on Saturday, Nov. 5.

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton hosted Bucknell in its home-opening swimming & diving meet on Saturday afternoon at the Saunders Aquatic Center. The Bison, however, swept both the men’s and women’s competition, winning by scores of 173-127 and 190-105 respectively.
On the men’s side, the Bearcats posted a pair of double winners. Sophomore Elijah Lanfear swept both the 100 free (46.83) and the 100 fly (49.89). Junior Xiaoyu Lin, meanwhile, captured the 100 breast (57.67) and 200 breast (2:06.80).
Lanfear and Lin were also part of the first-place 200 medley relay team, which included junior Jake Vecchio and senior Ryan Maierle. The Bearcat quartet clocked a first-place time of 1:32.80.
Ryan Cohn was the other individual winner on the men’s side, taking top honors in the three-meter diving event. His score was a season-best 308.70.
Lanfear, Lin and Cohn each have won a team-best three individual events so far this year.
On the women’s side, Binghamton had a pair of individual winners. Freshman Celia Webster won the 200 back (2:08.92) while fellow freshman Melia Truong won the 400 IM (4:45.92). Webster now has a team-high three individual victories so far this season.
The Bearcats also won the women’s 200 free relay in a time of 1:41.97. Senior Alyssa Martin was joined on that first-place team by freshman Saige Kazlauskas, Maria Pignatelli and Olivia Philbrick.
Despite the sweep by Bucknell, the Bearcats’ times improved over their dual meet wins at Canisius last Saturday.
“We knew that Bucknell was a strong team,” head coach Jerry Cummiskey said. “We wanted to show up, compete and be better than last week. I thought we were a little flat last week getting off the bus so I though that timewise, this was a better week for us.”
Binghamton has a pair of dual meets this coming weekend. The Bearcats head to Colgate at 5 p.m. on Friday before hosting Bryant at 11 a.m. the following day.
