Backstroker Parker Del Balso Announces Transfer From Pitt To LSU

Parker Del Balso has announced she will transfer to LSU for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Del Balso spent the last three seasons at Pitt.

“I am honored to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University! I am so grateful for the coaches at LSU for giving me this opportunity.

Also a huge thanks to my family for your unconditional support and understanding. Thank you to my Pitt fam. Coaches Chase, Michael, Kaersten, and Roman, and my Panther ladies, you all made Pitt my second home these past 3 years. I am honored to have had the opportunity to be your teammate.

I can’t wait to start my journey at LSU, Geaux Tigers!”

Del Balso finished her season at the 2026 ACC Championships where she went four for four in lifetime bests. Her highest finish came in the 200 back where she swam a 1:55.87 for 27th. She also was 29th in the 100 back (52.90), 35th in the 200 free (1:48.07), and time trialed the 100 free touching in a 49.93.

She did not compete for Pitt during the 2024-2025 season but was 24th in the 200 back as a freshman at the 2024 ACC Championships. She swam a lifetime best 1:57.47 in prelims.

Del Balso’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 100 back: 52.90
  • 200 back: 1:55.78
  • 200 free: 1:48.07
  • 100 free: 49.93

The LSU women finished 5th out of 13 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships with 668.5 points, notably just two points ahead of 6th place South Carolina. LSU was led by Michaela De Villiers who scored 66 individual points including a 4th place finish in the 100 free (47.53).

Based on her best times, Del Balso would have made the SEC ‘B’ final in the 100 backstroke while her 200 back is on the border of the ‘B’ and ‘C’ final. Nicole Santuliana was the team’s only finalist in the 200 back with a 1:55.23 for 19th so Del Balso is a key addition in the backstroke group. In addition to her backstroke, she also brings free relay potential as her 200 free would have been 4th on the team’s roster this past season.
