Hong Kong to Michigan Pipeline: Wui Kiu Man Makes Verbal Commitment to Michigan for 2027-28

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Wui Kiu Man (who goes by “Eunis”) has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Michigan beginning in the fall of 2027. She wrote on social media:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! I would like to thank my coaches, friends, DGS, KGV, and most importantly my family for the support throughout my journey. Moreover, I am beyond grateful for Coach Bryon, Coach Matt and Coach Jared for giving me this thrilling opportunity. GO BLUE! 💙💛”

Man attends the English Schools Foundation King George V School in Ho Man Tin, Hong Kong. She represents Hong Kong internationally and recently won a pair of gold medals at the 11th Asian Aquatics Championships in Ahmedabad, India, at the beginning of October. She went 32.04 to win the 50 breast and 1:09.12, a lifetime best, to win the 100 breast. She also swam the 200 IM and finished 5th (2:18.04).

In August, she competed at the World Aquatics Junior Championships in Otopeni, Romania. There, she was a semi-finalist in the 50 breast (31.54, 11th) and 100 breast (1:09.40, 13th), and finished 20th in the 200 breast (2:35.12) and 23rd in the 200 IM (2:19.54). She also split 56.89 anchoring Hong Kong’s 400 free relay and 2:04.29 on the 3rd leg of the 800 free relay.

Man will join swimmers Sofia Szymanowski, Khanh Seaton, and Leila Stafford and #7 diver Shannon Waldron in the Michigan class of 2031.

Michigan women placed 3rd out of 14 teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Man’s best converted times would have scored in the ‘B’ final of the 100 breast and the ‘C’ final of the 200 breast at the conference meet. It took 1:59.66 to get a second swim in the 200 IM and 1:47.11 to make it back in the 200 free.

Best LCM times (converted):

  • 50 breast – 31.54 (27.51)
  • 100 breast – 1:09.12 (1:00.46)
  • 200 breast – 2:32.05 (2:13.37)
  • 200 IM – 2:17.45 (1:59.80)
  • 200 free – 2:03.24 (1:48.14)
  • 100 free – 58.19 (50.98)
  • 100 fly – 1:02.30 (54.86)

Michigan’s best breaststroker Letitia Sim also represents an Asian nation (Singapore), though she has been raised mostly in the United States. Sim, a redshirt senior, is one of the best in the NCAA this season, but Michigan gets pretty thin in the breaststrokes after that. Man’s time, while converted, would rank 2nd on the team this season ahead of freshman Cecilia Howard. There isn’t much in the way of reinforcements in the class of 2026 either.

Michigan is hitting Asia frequently for recruits in its next few classes. That includes distance swimmer Gilaine Ma, also from Hong Kong, and Taiwanese backstroker Miyaka Chang, both from the class of 2026.

Michigan’s strong recruiting from Hong Kong has spanned earlier than the tenure of current head coach Matt Bowe – past stars from the region include Olympian Jamie Yeung and four-time individual Olympic medalist Siobhan Haughey.

She didn’t even swim in the Asian Games. The last Asian Games was held in 2023 in Hangzhou.

How on earth she won gold in the Asian Games???

Also, I never heard of this swimmer before and I am an Asian living in Asian country, I follow swimming competitions especially the prestigious Asian Games. I would know if someone is a “Asian Games gold medalist”

She was double champions in the “Asian Aquatics Championships” which was considered a lower-tier level swim meet, although occassionally some bigger stars swam it for conditioning purpose.
