Aggies Open 2016 with Busy Week of Action

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming and diving teams will open the 2016 portion of their schedules with a busy week of action against SEC power Georgia, Missouri State and SMU.

Both Texas A&M squads host the Georgia Bulldogs at 12 noon on Friday, while the Aggie men also host Missouri State at 2 p.m. on Thursday and the A&M women will face SMU on at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to all three days of action at the Student Recreation Natatorium is free.

Men’s Team update:

The Aggie men will be putting their perfect 4-0 dual meet record on the line against the Bears and the Bulldogs. Head coach Jay Holmes’ Aggies have logged a home win over Incarnate Word and road victories over Kentucky, Indian River State College and Florida Atlantic. The Aggies will be competing for the first time since placing second in the team standings at their home fall invitational, the Art Adamson Invitational, on Nov. 19-21.

Women’s Team update:

Head coach Steve Bultman’s women’s squad enters 2016 with a 5-1 dual meet record and a team victory in the Art Adamson Invitational. The Aggies are ranked No. 5 in the College Swim Coaches Association of America dual meet rankings, but will face a stiff challenge from the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs, who have won six straight SEC team crowns. Texas A&M’s lone loss, which snapped a 26-dual meet unbeaten streak, came at the hands of No. 6 Texas Longhorns. It will be the Aggies’ first action since a road win over Rice on Dec. 5.

Friday, Jan. 8 Men/Women vs. Georgia 12 noon
Saturday, Jan. 9 Women vs. SMU 1 p.m.
