The ACC has released their final pre-meet psych sheet for the 2026 ACC Championships that are due to start swimming events on Wednesday, February 18th.

As usual, the psych sheets don’t tell us much as most of the top swimmers are over entered, either because they are still deciding their final event schedule or because they don’t want other teams to figure out what they are doing.

Stanford star Torri Huske is entered in just four events, the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. This is one less than the five she was entered in last year. She is the top seed in the 50 free and the 100 fly and she is seeded 2nd in the 100 free and 7th in the 200 IM with her season best times.

Huske is the reigning NCAA Champion in the 200 IM, having swum the event in 1:49.67 last year. That would be the top time in the event, coming in ahead of teammate Lucy Bell, who is currently the top seed in 1:52.50.

Over the last four years, she has alternated between the 50 free and the 200 IM, swimming the 200 IM in 2022 and 2025 and the 50 free in 2023. She has also leaned into her sprint freestyle more on the international scene, dropping the 200 IM from her Nationals lineup earlier this summer.

There are a few factors that will influence Huske’s decision to swim one or the other. One factor is the new NCAA schedule has the 200 IM and 100 free back-to-back on the final day of the meet, while the 50 free is on day three with no event conflicts for Huske. The ACC schedule is the same as usual, so the 200 IM will not have conflict this week.

Another consideration is the fact that if Huske does not swim the 200 IM, another Stanford swimmer, Lucy Bell, will be the favorite to win and a few other Cardinal could also make the ‘A’ final. In the 50 free, there is one other Cardinal seeded in the top-8 with Annam Olasewere, but she is not favored for the title and the next fastest Stanford swimmer is Gigi Johnson at 17th.

Regardless of her 50 free/200 IM decision, she will race the 100 fly and the 100 free. Huske will be the favorite in the 100 fly, but she will likely face steep competition in the 100 free from Virginia’s Anna Moesch, who has a faster lifetime best in the event.

Other Notable Entries

  • Cal’s Mia West is entered in 9 events, more than any other swimmer. Her entries include every event on day one and day two: 500 free (8th), 200 IM (6th), 50 free (22nd), 400 IM (7th), 100 fly (7th), 200 free (3rd), 200 fly (5th), 100 back (7th), 100 free (6th).
  • Claire Weinstein, also from Cal, is entered in five events, the 100 free (12th), 200 free (5th), 500 free (2nd), 1650 free (1st), and 400 IM (19th).
  • Louisville’s Anastasia Gorbenko has six event entries: the 200 IM (3rd), 400 IM (9th), 200 free (6th), 100 breast (T-2nd), 200 breast (11th), and 200 back (4th).
  • NC State’s Daniel Diehl is entered in the 100 breaststroke with the 53.38 he swam in October which seeds him 29th in the event. He has only raced the 100 breast four times in the last two years, two of which were this season. He is also entered in the 200 IM (3rd), 200 free (11th), 100 back (15th), and 200 back.
  • Quintin McCarty, from NC State, is entered in the 200 freestyle (14th) along with the 50 free (2nd), 100 back (17th), and 100 free (7th) that he swam last year.
  • Virginia’s Aimee Canny has eight event entries with the 100 free (47.79), 200 free (4th), 500 free (1st), 200 IM (4th), 400 IM (4th), 200 fly (7th), 100 breast (6th), and 200 breast (3rd).
  • Claire Curzan, from UVA, is entered in the 50 free (5th), 100 fly (2nd), 200 free (7th), 200 fly (1st), 100 back (1st), 200 back (1st), and 100 free (5th).
  • UVA’s Thomas Heilman has six event entries in the 200 IM (), 50 free (41st), 100 fly (2nd), 200 free (25th), 200 fly (1st), and 100 free (30th).
  • Fellow Cavalier Maximus Williamson will only have one event decision to make between the 50 free (11th), and 200 IM (1st), and he will also swim the 200 free (5th) and 100 free (9th).

Swimulator does this on demand. Only thing it doesn’t account for is 5 relays, but relay point swings don’t usually decide conference championship meets (bar DQs). If anyone wants to check this out for any conferences: https://swimswam.com/swimulator/

Swimulator has a minor flaw – it only is recording 17 swimmers, not 18. It seems to count the relays as a swimmer.

In regard to the ACC Championships, it’s down to twenty (20) female swimmers on the squad for the University of Virginia. Barring illness or injury, I predict K. Christopherson and one of N. Jazy or M. Nkawalor as the final two cuts. However, it would not surprise me if L. Pudar was left off.

I would not be surprised if K. Grimes swims the 200 BK in lieu of the 1650 FR.

Is an athlete limited to three (3) individual events and four (4) team relay events at the ACC Championships? If so, Stanford University women’s swimming program will definitely take a hit on one of its relays. Oh, A. Roghair and L. Nordmann aren’t around this time to save the 4 x 200 FR-R.

I am looking forward to seeing the BEST swimmers from all across the Atlantic Coast: from Boston to Dallas, from Tallahassee to Palo Alto!

I think in 20 years we’re going to look back and say, “Ha ha yeah those old conferences were really screwed up there towards the end.”

Given the west and east coast are present in the conference they should just change the full name to “American Coastal Championships”

I think the limit is 21 athletes (divers count the same as swimmers).

But UVA only has 16 male swimmers, 20 female swimmers, and no divers entered. They left off swimmers who competed last weekend. Huh? Did swimmers get cut if they didn’t hit motivational times?

espn.com/watch/schedule is tricky to navigate
but they are now showing ACC championships streaming on ACCNX
free to stream if you have ACCN through your TV provider

SEC+ will also be free to stream

If I subscribe to ESPN on their website will that give me full access to the ACC and SEC broadcasts (and Big 10s)? Or do I need to have a TV for those specifically?

Will I need a TV to access? Or can I just access from subbing on the ESPN network?

if you have ACCN thru your TV provider (such as Xfinity) you can stream ACCNX on a laptop by going
to espn.com/watch/schedule
then go to sport- swimming and click on ACC championships when meet starts 5:30
you will get a screen to click on your provider
same with SEC and SEC+
sorry I am not that tech savvy to explain any better details
you can actually go there now and see upcoming schedule

K. Grimes does not approve your 400 IM prediction.
