The 2026 City of Livorno kicked off Thursday, March 19th and spans through Saturday, March 21st. Organized by Livorno Aquatics with the support of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN), the competition comes just weeks before the Italian Championships in Riccione. That latter affair will determine the composition of Italy’s national teams.
Right off the bat, we saw 30-year-old veteran Lisa Angiolini get it done for gold in the women’s 200m breast, registering a time of 2:23.87.
The Gianluca Valeri-trained star clocked a lifetime best, erasing the 2:23.90 former PB she produced at the Lausanne Swim Cup just last month for her first-ever sub-2:24 result.
Tonight, it was Francesca Fangio who snagged the silver in 2:27.05, followed by Lucrezia Mancini, who logged 2:27.99 as the bronze medalist.
Angiolini remains ranked as Italy’s 4th-best 200m breaststroke performer of all time and ranks 6th in the world on the season.
