Top-Tier Italians Headed To 2026 City Of Livorno Meet

2026 MEETING CITTÁ DI LIVORNO

The 2026 City of Livorno meet is nearly upon us, with action kicking off Thursday, March 19th and spanning through Saturday, March 21st. Organized by Livorno Aquatics with the support of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN), the competition comes just weeks before the Italian Championships in Riccione. That latter affair will determine the composition of Italy’s national teams.

A total of 448 athletes are set to race this week, with top-tier domestic talent including Alberto Razzetti, Sara Franceschi, Lisa Angiolini, Leonardo Deplano, Lorenzo Zazzeri, Carlos D’Ambrosio, Alessandro Miressi and Federico Burdisso.

30-year-old Angiolini is among those Italians coming to this competition immediately after last weekend’s Laussane Swim Cup. The Olympian clocked a time of 1:06.90 in the 100m breast and 2:23.90 in the 200m breast to collect double gold there in Switzerland.

Italy is still looking to break through the season’s world rankings with a bigger dent than the nation holds right now. At the moment, only Benetta Pilato and Simone Cerasuolo rank among the top five across all  of the women’s and men’s long course meters events with each among the upper echelon in the 50m breast. Pilato ranks 5th with a season-best of 30.48 while Cerasuolo ranks 4th with his time of 26.78 from February.
