  • Day 1 Recap

Highlighting night two on the women’s side was Molly Webber of Army who punched her ticket to the 2026 NCAA Championships, winning the 500 free in a 4:42.07. That was over a second under the NCAA qualifying time of a 4:43.70. Webber broke the Patriot League and Meet Records as the previous record stood at a 4:43.44 set by Navy’s Tara Chapmon in 2010.

The swim was a huge drop for Webber as she came into the day with a lifetime best 4:46.20 that she swam to win the event at year ago. Webber now won the event in all four years of her career, and became the first swimmer in Patriot League history to win the event four times. She won by over six seconds today as Navy’s Sarah Eldridge was 2nd in a 4:48.55.

Making history for Loyola Maryland was Haley Robinson as the junior won the 50 free in a 22.56. That made her the 1st swimmer from Loyola to win the women’s 50 free title. She also became only the 3rd woman in Loyola history to win a Patriot League title. She earned the win over Boston U’s Molly Barber who was 2nd in a 22.72.

Navy’s Lauren Walsh tallied the final individual win on the women’s side, touching in a 1:58.46 in the 200 IM. That marked a best time by almost a second as Walsh’s previous best was a 1:59.41. Army’s Catriona Gilmore was 2nd in a 1:59.41.

Gilmore helped Army’s 400 medley relay team to a win as Angie McKane, Gilmore, Sydney Braeger, and Webber swam to a 3:34.27, breaking the Patriot League and Meet Records that stood at a 3:35.69 set by Navy in 2019. McKane got the relay out to the lead from the start, with a 52.53 on the backstroke leg.

The Navy men had two swimmers earn individual invites to NCAAs. Kicking off the night was Dean Jones who won the 500 free in a 4:16.73. Jones battled with teammate Xavier Sohovich who finished 2nd in a 4:16.76. Sohovich led the entire race except for the tough as Jones blasted a 24.25 on the final 50, compared to Sohovich’s 25.23.

Also punching their ticket to men’s NCAAs was Ben Denman-Grimm. After posting a huge 18.58 relay split last night on the anchor leg of Navy’s 200 medley relay, he swam to the win in the individual 50 free tonight. He touched in a 19.28, breaking the Patriot League and Meet Records of a 19.35 set by Loyola’s Caleb Kelly a year ago.

The Army men won the other two events on the night as Joey Kling won the 200 IM in a Patriot League and Meet Record of a 1:44.45. He defended his title from a year ago when he won in a 1:45.22, a time that also stood as his best time until tonight. Tonight’s win marked his 3rd win in a row in the event.

After punching their ticket to NCAAs less than two weeks ago in the 400 medley relay, Army’s 400 medley relay swam to a win. Johnny Crush, Kohen Rankin, Max Jordan, and Thomas Hadji swam to a 3:04.17, only 0.07 off their record setting time of a 3:04.10 that they swam two weeks ago.

Also highlighting the relay was Loyola Maryland’s Joe Hayburn, who led the team off in a 44.81. Hayburn’s time is under what it took to make the 2025 NCAA Championships as that cutline was a 45.26. He will look to battle Johnny Crush of Army, who has been as fast as 44.10, in the 100 back tomorrow night. Loyola MD ended up touching 3rd in a 3:06.51, also behind 2nd place Navy (3:05.85).
