The Indiana Girls High School State finals start at 12 pm CST, and the Carmel High School Girls are shooting for a legendary 40 straight state titles, 200 event titles, and 20 titles for coach Chris Plumb. They currently sit at 198 event wins.
The Carmel girls team faces the steepest challenge they have in years from other schools, but still have four individual top seeds courtesy of Ellie Clarke in the 200 IM and 100 back and Molly Sweeney in the 100 fly and 100 breast. They are also seeded 1st in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Girls 200 Medley Relay Final

Make that 199 titles for the Carmel girls. They took the top spot in the 200 medley relay, swimming 1:40.90 to come in seven-tenths ahead of the Valparaiso team’s 1:41.60.
Their swim was two tenths off their prelims time of 1:40.68, but was enough to win the gold. Leah Debosch led off in 26.14, her exact prelims split. Molly Sweeney swam 27.33 on the breaststroke leg. Ellie Clark was 23.59 on the fly, and Sophie Floyd brought them home in 23.84.
Valparaiso finished 2nd in 1:41.60 with their team of Evangelina Papachronis (27.6), Maddie Moreth (26.94), Abby Lee and Amiah Sparks. The splits for the final two legs appear to be inaccurate.
Hamilton Southeastern’s team of Naomi Haines (25.72), Lauren Ing (28.50), Ellason Miller (24.96), and Payton Walker (23.30) finished 3rd in 1:42.48.
Girls 200 Freestyle Final

Top 3 Finishers
- Emily Wolf (FISH) — 1:45.84
- Catie Brenneman (CONC) — 1:47.95
- Ava Metzger (ZION) — 1:48.37
Emily Wolf, from Fishers High School, took the top time in the 200 freestyle with her 1:45.84 coming in more than two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Her swim was a little more than a tenth off the 1:45.72 she swam in prelims, which was about a second faster than her lifetime best 1:46.51 from last weekend. The NC State commit for 2027 has dropped more than three seconds in the event this season, coming into the year at 1:49.00.
Catie Brenneman from Concord was 2nd in 1:47.95, also a slight add from her prelims swim and lifetime best of 1:47.83. Brenneman will be swimming at Notre Dame in the fall.
Ava Metzger from Zionsville finished 3rd in 1:48.37, two tenths faster than her prelims swim of 1:48.53. The 2026 Indiana commit was about a tenth off her lifetime best of 1:48.28 from December.
Girls 200 IM Final

Sophomore Ellie Clarke officially makes it 200 event wins for the Carmel girls team, taking the to ptime in the 200 IM by just a tenth-of-a-second over Carroll Fort Wayne’s Jordyn Glassley.
Clarke’s time was more than a second faster than her prelims swim of 1:59.36 and her best time of 1:59.08 from last week. She split 25.36/28.85/36.37/27.15.
Glassley was 2nd in 1:57.85 after splitting 25.46/29.24/35.60/27.55 to just miss her personal best of 1:57.72. She will be swimming at Georgia in the fall of 2027.
Finally, freshman Haley Hunter was 3rd in 1:59.07, dropping more than a second from her prelims swim of 2:00.51, which was just off her best 2:00.50 from last week. She has dropped seven seconds in the event this season, coming into the year at 2:06.75 from last December.
Girls 50 Freestyle Final

Top 3 Finishers
- Maris Williams (CAFW) — 22.86
- Kate Fetters (CAFW) — 22.92
- Peyton McDaniel (MTV) — 22.98
The top three girls in the 50 free final were all under 23 seconds. Carroll Fort Wayne took the top two spots with Maris Williams earning the top time in 22.86, just ahead of teammate Kate Fetters, who swam 22.92.
Williams dropped from her personal best 22.99 in prelims while Fetters was just off her personal best 22.85 from last weekend. Both girls are juniors, and Williams is committed to swim at Notre Dame and Fetters is committed to Indiana for the fall of 2027.
Mount Vernon sophomore Peyton McDaniel finished 3rd in a personal best 22.98, marking her first time under 23 seconds in the event, dropping from the 23.23 mark she set last week.

Girls 100 Butterfly Final

Top 3 Finishers
- Molly Sweeney (CAR) — 52.78
- Lylah Theriac (MOOR) — 53.18
- Jordyn Glassley (CAFW) — 53.33
Molly Sweeney picked up her 1st individual event win of the day in the girls’ 100 fly, swimming 52.78 to touch four tenths ahead of Mooresville’s Lylah Theriac, who swam 53.18.
Sweeney was just off her prelims time of 52.75, which was about six tenths off her lifetime best 52.10 from December of 2024.
Theriac, who is committed to Indiana for 2026, finished 2nd in 53.18, a new lifetime best, dropping from the 53.38 mark she set at the beginning of January.
Carroll Fort Wayne’s Jordyn Glassley earned her 2nd medal of her junior state meet, swimming 53.33 to finish 3rd overall. This swim was about four tenths off her lifetime best 52.99 from last week’s High School Sectionals meet.
Girls 100 Freestyle Final

Reversing their 50 free finishes, Kate Fetters and Maris Williams took the top spots again in the 100 free with Fetters on top and Maris in 2nd this time.
Fetters swam 49.52, adding about three tenths from the 49.28 she swam at the Fort Wayne Sectionals meet last week.
Williams swam 50.00, dropping almost two tenths from her previous best 50.17 that she swam in December and just missing the 49 second mark.
Concord’s Catie Brenneman picked up her 2nd medal of the meet, swimming 50.01 to come in just one hundredth behind Williams for the bronze. This was also a new lifetime best for her, dropping from the 50.15 she set two years ago in February of 2024.
Girls 500 Freestyle Final

- Ava Metzger (ZION) — 4:52.58

Fishers junior Emily Wolf goes 2-for-2 in individual events, picking up a dominant win in the girls 500 freestyle with her swim of 4:43.25.
She came in more than nine seconds ahead of Ava Metzger from Zionsville, who swam 4:52.58 to finish 2nd.
Wolf’s best time stands at 4:41.98 from December, but this was her 2nd fastest swim ever, coming in under her time from last season of 4:43.89
Metzger was just off her best of 4:50.28, and Carmel’s Haley Morris finished 3rd in 4:57.99, a new best time by half-a-second from her prelims swim of 4:58.57 and more than a second faster than her pre-meet best of 4:59.19 from last week.
Girls 200 Freestyle Relay Final

The Carroll Fort Wayne girls team won the 200 freestyle relay by more than a second with their junior duo of Maris Williams and Kate Fetters.
Fetters led the team off in 23.20, about three tenths off the 22.92 she swam in the individual event. Williams split 22.68 on the 2nd leg. Jordyn Glassley swam 23.42 in 3rd, and Naomi Bowland anchored in 23.33 to bring the team home in 1:32.63.
Zionsville finished in 1:33.65 for 2nd with their team of Allie Buroker (23.46), Haley Hunter (23.21), Katie Gordon (23.80), and Ava Metzger (23.18).
Fishers was 3rd with Ashlyn Hayes (23.96), Ella Hare (23.66), Emily Wolf (22.78), and Larkin Lee (24.02).
Girls 100 Backstroke Final
- State Record — 51.50, Berit Berglund (Carmel) – 2022

Carmel sophomore Ellie Clarke goes 2-for-2, winning her 2nd straight title in the girls 100 backstroke with her 53.08. This swim was about a tenth off her lifetime best 52.52 from December of 2025.
It was all sophomores on the 100 backstroke podium with Munster’s Lillyanna King finishing 2nd in 55.12, which was almost a second off the 54.38 lifetime best she swam in prelims.
Leah Debosch from Carmel was 3rd in 55.19, which was also off her prelims personal best of 54.86.
Girls 100 Breaststroke Final

And with that, the Carmel girls lock up their 40th consecutive state title. Even if they disqualify the final relay, they sit more than 100 points ahead of 2nd place Fishers.
Senior Molly Sweeney wrapped up her high school career with a bang. After finishing 2nd in the 100 breaststroke last year to Moreth, Sweeney came back to pick up her 3rd 100 breaststroke state title in 59.24, a new lifetime best She drops two tenths from her previous best 59.47 that she set in February of 2024.
Moreth swam 1:00.28 to finish 2nd, three tenths faster than her 2025 winning time of 1:00.58. Her lifetime best stands at 59.91 from last weekend. She will be swimming at Florida in the fall.
Chesterton sophomore Brenley Bonez finished 3rd in 1:01.10, just off her lifetime best 1:00.85 from last weekend.
Girls 400 Free Relay Final
- State Record — 3:15.38, Carmel (Burchill, Bilquist, Smith, Adams) – 2015
Top 3 Finishers
- Carroll (Fort Wayne) — 3:21.30
- Fishers — 3:21.67
- Carmel — 3:25.24
Carroll picked up their 2nd relay win of the meet, swimming 3:21.30 in the girls 400 free relay to come in three tenths ahead of Fishers, who touched 2nd in 3:21.67.
Glassley led off in 50.29, exactly tying her personal best in the event from the middle of January. Fetters was 49.49 in the 2nd position. Naomi Bowland swam 52.12 in 3rd, and Maris Williams anchored in 49.40.
Fishers had Ashlyn Hayes on leadoff (50.77), Audrey Wolf in 2nd (50.48), Avery Hannon in 3rd (52.01), and Emily Wolf in 4th (48.41). E. Wolf’s split was the fastest in the field.
Carmel finished 3rd with Ellie Clarke (49.61), Sophie Floyd (51.96), Haley Morris (51.83), and Lucy Enoch (51.84) swimming 3:25.24.

Hi! On the diving results third place’s first name is spelt wrong. It is Eryn not Deryn.
IHSAA State should not be a sanctioned meet because of the lack of officiating. There are plenty of officials in Indiana, but IHSAA doesn’t use them at this meet. I don’t know how the Meet Ref can certify results when they know they don’t have people watching turns, and only have one person walking stroke on each side… This has been a problem for at least 15 years.
Congrats to Carmel! Should be a fun a few years ahead as others challenge for the crown.
