Canny Opts For 200 IM On Night One of 2026 Indianapolis Pro Swim Series (Finals Scratches)

2026 Indianapolis Pro Series

Finals Heat Sheet

Despite resetting the South African record in the 200 free this morning and claiming the #2 seed for tonight, UVA-based Aimee Canny has chosen to pursue the 200 IM tonight. There, Canny is the #2 seed behind Cavalier teammate Kate Douglass. Her scratch bumps Alex Shackell up into the A-final. Torri Huske has also opted out of the 200 free, likewise choosing to swim the 200 IM where she’s the #6 seed.

Another notable scratch in the 200 free comes from NC State’s Erika Pelaez, who will swim in the A-final of the 100 back instead. Cal’s Destin Lasco and OSU’s Cornelius Jahn are in the same exact boat, as they too have chosen the 100 back over the 200 free. Lasco is the #6 seed while Jahn is the #5 seed.

The only other top-16 scratch includes Kaitlyn Owens in the 100 back. She’ll be back in the pool tomorrow for the 50 back.

Torri Huske is listed as swimming the A final of the 200 IM. So it would seem the 200 free wasn’t her only event today. Am I missing something?
