France Goes 1-2 in Women’s 15 km Biathlon Event.
- France’s Julia Simon led the 1-2 finish for her country in the Women’s 15km Individual Biathlon, earning her 2nd gold medal of these Winter Olympics, after only missing one target in her time of 41:15.6. Fellow countrywoman Lou Jeanmonnot, who Simon had won gold with in the mixed team event earlier in these games finished silver, missing two targets in 42:08.7. Not to be outdone, Bulgaria’s Lora Hristova earned the bronze in this event, mekinking the first Olympic medal for the Country since 2002, and the first women’s medal at the Winter Olympic since 2006.
American Jordan Stolz sets Olympic Record in 1,000-meter speed skating.
- 21-year-old Jordan Stolz flew to a massive win in the men’s 1,000-meter speedskating, clocking the fastest ever time in the winter Olympics in 1:06.28, lowering the previous mark by nine-tenths of a second. After trailing at the 600-meter mark, Stolz’s final lap of 25.66 seconds helped catapult him onto the top of the podium, as he was the only skater under 26 seconds on his final lap. He is the first American to win the 1,000-meter speedskating event since Shani Davis in 2010.
USA Finishes Gold-Silver in Women’s Moguls
- Liz Lemley topped the women’s moguls podium with her dominating performance of 83.20 in the final round to earn her the individual gold. Her teammate Jaelin Kauf also threw down a massive final score of 80.77 to earn the US a gold-silver finish. The medal marks Kauf’s 2nd consecutive Olympic silver after finishing behind Australia’s Jakara Anthony in 2022. Anthony threatened the podium, but fell on her final round, and finished 8th.
Chloe Kim’s Quest for 3rd Straight Halfpipe Gold Ends in Silver
- The 25-year-old Kim came just 2.25 points shy of a third consecutive Olympic Gold on the women’s snowboard halfpipe, but it would be South Korea’s Choi Gaon topping the American in her Olympic debut at the age of 17. Choi actually fell on her first run, but later had scored 90.25 to put herself in gold-medal position with Kim still to go. Early in the final run, the American would fall, but fortunately had scored 88.00 in an earlier run to secure the runner-up sport on the podium.

54-Year-Old Rich Ruohonen Makes Historic Olympic Debut
- In the second match in Team USA’s men’s round robin, with the opposing Switzerland team already leading 8-2 at the end of the 7th end, Team USA substituted in 54-year-old Rich Ruohonen, who would throw and sweep for one end, earning a point for Team USA, but ultimately conceding the match 8-3. Ruohonen becomes the Oldest American to compete in the Winter Olympics, surpassing the previous record of 52 years old by Joseph Savage, who competed in pairs skating in 1932.
Ukrainian Skeleton Racer Vladyslav Heraskevych Disqualified from Olympics after Helmet Honoring Ukrainian Victims in Russian Attacks
- Ukrainian Skeleton Racer Vladyslav Heraskevych has been disqualified from the Winter Olympics after refusing to wear any helmet other than his, that has the faces of Ukrainian athletes and Coaches that were killed in the attacks by Russia. Heraskevych, who was the flag bearer for Ukraine at these Winter Olympics, was quoted saying that he “was treated unfairly. I was stripped out of opportunity to compete, and I don’t understand why,” as said in a NBC report.
Vonn Undergoes 3rd Surgery, says ” I know I’ll be ok.”
- Following Lindsey Vonn being airlifted after a devastating crash during the alpine downhill competition, the Olympic ski legend took to Instagram to share her condition following her 3rd surgery to repair her fractured tibia in her left leg.

I don’t understand why a helmet with faces is a violation.
I don’t either.
I understand the IOC’s policy on this, and I think Kirsty did a reasonable job of trying to find a compromise. But I think given that the people on the helmet were all people he had a personal connection to, and there were no words to go along with them…
I mean if my mom died from cancer and I put her face on my helmet, is that disallowed? Just because of how they died makes their death inherently political?
Because “neutrals” are pouring a ton of roubles to sweep any reminder of their war crimes under the rug. However, IOC might have achieved an opposite effect here.
Check out the scores from the French judge for Chock-Bates and tell me everything was above board.
The marks and positions are so predetermined I don’t watch this sport anymore. The Canadians who placed 9th are WAY better than what they get credit for.
I’m surprised a team who has only been together a year has been awarded the gold medal. I also dont think Chock and Bates always deserved first place in the last few world championships.
The US judge gave the US team the highest score of any judge. The French judge did not give France the highest score.
If you completely remove both the US and French judges scores, France still wins.
What does that tell you? Lol
Francesca Lollobrigida’s second gold at 5000 was even more astonishing than her gold earlier this week at 3000.
I didn’t give her a nickel’s worth of opportunity going into the final lap. I guarantee the real time odds would have been at least 10/1 against.
Sure, she was leading throughout based on splits in comparison to the leader. But that Dutch leader had skated the race far too conservatively and closed fast over the final two laps, including 31.47 over the final lap.
Lollobrigida posted 32.74 over the penultimate lap. She had a gap of less than a half second. That meant she had to drop nearly a full second out of nowhere on the final lap. You never see… Read more »
Great recap, I’m up to date!
