BOCA RATON, Fla. – The FIU swimming and diving program closed out the regular season with a victory over Florida Atlantic, 112-110, Saturday afternoon at the FAU Aquatic Center.
The Panthers recorded 10 top-three finishes on the day, including five first-place finishes in swimming events against the conference foe.
Freshman Pauline Zeller delivered a standout performance, capturing three first-place finishes, including two individual victories. Zeller touched first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.79 before claiming the top spot in the 100 backstroke at 56.97. She also anchored the winning 200 medley relay alongside Olivia Matson, Diana Santamaria, and Frida Stretre Løbersli, as the quartet posted a time of 1:43.28.
Nicole Frank earned a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley, clocking a 2:08.73. Santamaria added two runner-up finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.97) and 100 freestyle (53.34).
The Panthers’ 200 freestyle relay team of Oumy Diop, Maria Goncalves, Ana Luiza Daisson, and Matson secured a victory with a time of 1:37.52. Diop also placed third in the 100 freestyle (54.21). Daisson finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:57.26) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.34).
Additional finishes included Lutnya Bogdanova, who placed third in the 100 butterfly (59.53), and Claudia Frasca, who earned third in the 100 backstroke (59.34).
On the diving boards, FIU competed in the platform event Friday, Jan. 30. Ruska Lehtonen claimed first place with a score of 269.03, recording a zone cut and posting a top-five platform score in program history. Adyson Downey also recorded a zone cut with a score of 230.93, while junior Sydney Soto posted a personal-best 213.00.
In Saturday’s 3-meter event, Lehtonen continued her strong showing with a first-place, zone-cut performance of 293.10. Soto finished third with a score of 258.75, while Downey placed fifth at 215.55.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women’s swimming & diving team closed its regular season on Saturday morning in a dual meet versus FIU at the FAU Aquatic Center.
In a chilly and rainy afternoon meet, the Owls were narrowly defeated by the rival Panthers 112 to 110. On the day, FAU grabbed five event victories and numerous second-place finishes as well.
Izzy Jones and Talitha McEwan stepped up for the Owls, each having two individual event victories in their regular season finale.

ON DECK
The Owls will get two weekends off before both the men’s and women’s teams will gear up for their respective conference championships held Feb. 18-21. The women will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the American Conference Championships, while the men will head north to Orlando for their third Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.
