After winning the 200 fly (1:56.44) on the final night of the Pro Swim in Austin, Gabriel Jett spoke with the media about his winter training. As is tradition, many of Jett’s Cal Bear teammates went to the OTC to begin the year. Since this is his first year as a pro, Jett decided to switch things up and went to Australia for two weeks to train with legendary open water coach John Rogers. Jett gives a full account of his experience down under and what he will carry with him from it.

Gabe, if you read the comments, we need to know interval and your average!
It might feel like another day at the office for you, but we normies like to know what the upper bound is on sets like that!
100×100 best avg is an old school classic.
Dont miss those days.
I enjoyed this interview! He seems like a really fun guy! Interesting to read who his parents are and how successful they were in their own swimming careers!
Gabe “Gabe Jett” Jett
This guy is such a good ad for the Cal program.
Bright and articulate guy. Seems to really have come into his own as a professional. Cant wait to see how fast he goes this summer. Eddie seems like one of the best ever. Our sport needs more Eddies.
Will he swim the 200 fly at Pan Pacs as well?
I’m guessing yes. At Pan Pacs, anyone on the team can swim any event in prelims. Only top 2 per country advance to the final. So leaves the door open for lots of opportunities for athletes to get multiple prelims races in.
Gosh. Who else but Eddie would go up to an opponent’s swimmer and encourage them to pursue an event that they’d be good at
Yeah, pretty cool.
