2025 SPEEDO WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

GIRLS’ 200 FREE – Finals

Top 8 Finishers

  1. Rylee Erisman (LAKR) — 1:40.93 **NEW 15-16 NAG RECORD
  2. Elizabeth Eichbrecht (NOVA) — 1:45.52
  3. Brynn Lavigueur (LAKR) — 1:46.03
  4. Anna Shnowski (QSTS) — 1:46.12
  5. Faith Gorey (NAC) — 1:46.80
  6. Sloane Whelehan (TAC) — 1:47.76
  7. Quinn White (SAC) — 1:47.89
  8. Michelle Dean (DR) — 1:48.04

16 year old Rylee Erisman swam to a new 15-16 National Age Group (NAG) record touching in a 1:40.93 in the 200 free. That broke the previous NAG record of a 1:42.03 set by Katie Ledecky back in 2013.

Split Comparison

Distance Erisman Ledecky
50 23.46 23.46 24.5 24.5
100 25.45 48.91 25.93 50.43
150 26.15 1:15.06 26.16 1:16.59
200 25.87 1:40.93 25.44 1:42.03

The biggest difference today was the opening 50 as Erisman blasted a 23.46 at the 50 while Ledecky was out in a 24.50. Erisman was also much faster on the 2nd 50, making her already over 1.5 seconds ahead of the old record.

All-Time 15-16 Girls, SCY 200 Free

  1. Summer McIntosh — 1:40.63 (2022 Speedo Winter Juniors)*
  2. Rylee Erisman – 1:40.93 (2025 Speedo Winter Juniors)
  3. Katie Ledecky — 1:42.03 (2013 Winter Nationals)
  4. Dagny Knutson — 1:42.81 (2008 ND Girls’ State)
  5. Bella Sims — 1:42.92 (2021 West Speedo Winter Juniors)
  6. Missy Franklin — 1:43.15 (2012 CO CHSAA 5A Championships)

*McIntosh was faster but does not count towards NAG records as she represents Canada at the international level

To put into context how fast this is for even 18 and unders, Erisman’s swim tonight would already sit at #4 in the 17-18 age group, including ahead of Ledecky whose best time was a 1:41.04 while in that age group. The 17-18 NAG sits at a 1:40.31 that Missy Franklin set at the 2014 NCAA Championships.

Erisman is notably set to join the Cal women next fall as she has reclassified from the class of 2027 to 2026. Erisman’s time from tonight would sit at #3 in the NCAA this season, with only Anna Moesch of Virginia (1:40.25) and Minna Abraham of USC (1:40.47) being faster so far this season.

Outside the top 25. Don’t have an exact answer, but I’d guess around 30th.

Just to make all the ‘sprinters’ upset, lol, I’ll remind you she swam the 2023 National Jr 5K and was 2nd just 14 seconds out of first.

Awesome Swim. If I am an older swimmer on the NT thinking about making LA28 in the 800 Free relay I am concerned with all the young 200 free talent coming up and taking my spot. Rylee, Moesch and Dobson and others are going nowhere.

It’s a great swim, but on the women’s side there have been multiple instances of a HS girl breaking a world record.

And you don’t even have to go far back to find instances whether we are talking Regan, Ledecky, Missy.

True. Though I think it was more expected from Summer as she was already internationally elite at the senior level as well as an Olympian. Rylee has been thought of as a sprinter so her being that close to Summer is impressive.
