2025 Speedo Winter Junior Championships — East: Swims You Might’ve Missed Night 2

2025 SPEEDO WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

Day two of the 2025 Speedo Winter Junior East Championships saw a number of very fast swims from the top of the meet with Rylee Erisman, Audrey Derivaux, and Baylor Stanton among the athletes moving themselves up the all-time rankings.

With a lot of attention on the top swimmers, it can be easy to miss some fast swimming in other heats, or even from other swimmers in the ‘A’ final. We have compiled a list of some of the swims you might’ve missed from night 2 of the East Winter Juniors.

In the girls meet, Sara Reppucci, a University of Minnesota commit, qualified 12th for the final, swimming 4:49.68 to dip under 4:50 for the first time, dropping from her previous best of 4:50.18 from March of this year. In the final, she swam 4:50.27 to finish 14th.

In the ‘C’ final, there were a trio of girls who broke 4:50 for the first time. Northwestern commit Bella Teply, from the Mason Manta Rays, swam 4:48.14 to finish 2nd, dropping from her pre-meet best of 4:51.72 from last month. Yari Brock, from the North Carolina Aquatic Club dropped nearly seven seconds to touch 3rd in 4:48.61. Finally, Vivian Moulson, a Wisconsin commit from Crimson Aquatics, swam 4:48.67 to drop from her pre-meet best of 4:52.76.

In the 200 IM, Finola Whelehan qualified 8th for the ‘A’ final, touching in 1:59.65. This was her first time breaking two minutes in the event, taking down her previous best time of 2:02.14 from November of this year. Her preseason best in the event was 2:05.17 from February. She ended up finishing 8th in the final at 2:00.06.

Also breaking 2:00 for the first time was ‘B’ final winner Sydney Hardy. She came in seeded at 2:00.12, which she swam at the beginning of November, and she ended up tying for 9th in the event, touching in 1:58.89 to drop more than a second.

Taylor Klein, a Stanford commit for 2026, dropped nearly two seconds in the event to qualify 18th, touching in 2:00.76 to drop from her previous best 2:02.97 from March of 2024.

Klein ended up scratching the final after she made the 50 free final, where she saw another drop, touching in 22.89 in prelims and 22.67 in finals to best the 23.27 mark she set at this meet last year.

In the boys’ meet, Jackson Cooper, from Badger Swim Club, saw a huge drop in the 500 freestyle to end up finishing 5th overall. He started the day at 4:31.78 from February. In prelims, he dropped seven seconds to swim 4:24.40 and earn an ‘A’ final spot. The Villanova commit dropped even more in finals to swim 4:22.88, finishing 5th overall.

NOVA of Virginia’s Owen Miklos swam 4:28.24 in the ‘C’ final to drop more than six seconds from his previous best 4:34.84 from last December.

Central Ohio’s Austin Carpenter, a Texas commit for next fall, dropped two seconds in the men’s 200 IM prelims, swimming 1:46.57 to qualify 11th in prelims before scratching the final. His previous best time was 1:48.52 from January of 2024.

Northwestern commit from Streamline Aquatics, Zach Kusch dropped three seconds to swim under 1:50 for the first time, touching in 1:47.79 to finish 16th in the ‘B’ final. His pre-meet best was 1:50.89 from last December.
