Caeleb Dressel on US Open: “It was a very good swim meet and I actually need to believe that”

Caeleb Dressel swam his first races since switching his training base to Jacksonville with former University of Florida coach Steve Jungbluth. Competing at the US Open, Dressel finished 4th in the 100 fly (51.33), 5th in the 50 fly (23.49), and 9th in the 50 free (21.94).

n the past we’ve seen Dressel be very hard on himself and pick apart his races endlessly, which is a habit he still seems to have the capacity for. But in the mixed zone in Austin, he forced himself to admit that for where he is at in his season right now, this was a good swim meet.

He reminds me a bit of where Simone Manuel was last year. Back in it, but not quite seeing the results they want/expect. I hope he looks to how she is doing this year as inspiration because things are definitely falling in place for her!

It’s understandable but why do they need to say this publicly? Most of the reports about Milak in the last few years were pretty unnecessary and improper. It’s almost like they are using the media to exert pressure on him and force him to swim. When did the sponsors/bosses of Cam McEvoy, Adam Peaty, Penny Oleksiak, Ruta Meilutyte and Flo Manaudou etc. speak so loudly to media about their long break from swimming? When did they say publicly that ‘hey ladies and gentlmen we will not pay him/her’? This is so dumb.
