Through two days of competition in Quebec City, the Centre PEPS played host to a Canadian Age Group Record in the men’s 50 breaststroke, courtesy of Lucas Morin.
Morin, the 18-year-old from Club Aquatique Montreal (CAMO) and Arizona commit, clocked 27.05 in the men’s 50 breast, not only winning by nearly three-quarters of a second, but also notching the Canadian Age Group Record by a mere one-hundredth of a second, lowering Alexander Milanovich’s 2019 time of 27.06. That time makes him the fastest in the 15-18 age group in the event in Canada this year, and the 3rd fastest performer this year in Canada behind Finlay Knox (27.00), and Apollo Hess (27.02).
Earlier in the meet, Morin won the 200 breast by a whopping 3.4 seconds, touching in 2:11.07. He is now the 6th-fastest Canadian this year and the 2nd-fastest in the 15-18 age group.
CAMO’s Loic Courville-Fortin got in on the record-breaking action himself, by lowering his own Quebec Provincial Senior Record in the 50 backstroke on day two, clocking 24.24, lowering his own record set in August of this year at 24.26.
Sebastien Voicu put forth one of the meet’s best performances thus far in the men’s 200 freestyle. Voicu overwhelmed the field en route to his 1:45.63 win. That swim now places him as the fastest performer this year among Canadian freestylers.
Mary-Sophie Harvey of Club Aquatique Montreal had a productive showing in the women’s 100 butterfly, finishing in the only performer under the one-minute barrier in 56.98, nearly four and a half seconds faster than the next closest finisher in 1:01.18.

The breaststroke king strikes once again. Who will rise up to stop him? I don’t know? Possibly Erik Linseisen, Oliver Dawson, Appollo Hess? Lucas seems like he’s got the whole world of swimming in his palm. A true champ with an awesome spirit. I’m glad to have the chance to watch greatness.
Not to be confused with Italian World Championships medallist Luca Marin.
