BOSTON – Highlighted by two individual victories and a first-place 400-free relay finish, the Boston University women’s swimming & diving team won the Terrier Invite for the first time since 2018.
BU ended the three-day competition with 1,150 points, well ahead of Northeastern (1,043) and Bryant (936.50). UMass (761), Fairfield (726.50) and Boston College (716) rounded out the full-team standings, as Army West Point (66) and Colgate (29) only had divers compete.
In total, the Terriers compiled six top-three results Sunday evening over six events with freshman Molly Barber winning the 100 free at 50.38, .24 seconds quicker than Northeastern. She later teamed with freshman Lily Osborn, freshman Kiki Rampersad and freshman Danka Ndubuisi to take first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:22.83, .18 seconds ahead of Boston College.
Sophomore Cambria Jewett (1:58.38) won the other individual event in the 200 back, as she and Ndubuisi (1:59.23) gave the Terriers a 1-2 result. Freshman Hadar Miller (2:17.51) led BU in the 200 breaststroke with a second-place result, and senior Haley Newman (2:00.43) added another second-place finish in the 200 fly.
In the first event of the session, sophomore Katie Pestrichelli swam to a time of 17:09.06 to place fifth in the 1650 free.
Winning its third Terrier Invite since 2010, the Terriers will next take an extended break and open the new year at Colgate on Jan. 10.
BOSTON – Highlighted by record-breaking performances by sophomore Giovanni Sullo and senior Tony Ponomarev, the Boston University men’s swimming & diving team finished runner-up at the three-day Terrier Invite.
Totaling six top-three results over six events Sunday evening, the Terriers took second with 1,288 points to improve on last year’s performance by 50.5 points and place ahead of Fairfield (853.50), UMass (781.50) and Bryant (742) with the divers from Army West Point (82) and Colgate (53) rounding out the standings. Boston College pulled away late from BU to win the title at 1,428 points.
Sullo set both a program and pool record in the 1,650 with a time of 15:17.84, surpassing Tommy Hagerty’s (’20) school record time (15:18.68), and Army’s Tom Ottman’s nine-year-old pool record time (15:22.66). Sophomore Charles Schreiner (15:33.41) added a third-place result in the event.
During the 200 back prelims, Ponomarev posted a time of 1:43.33 to top Connor Stuewe (’15)’s program-record time of 1:43.38 and the previous pool record held by Georgetown’s Drew Carbone (1:44.85) since 2021. Ponomarev later placed first in the final at 1:45.03. Junior Jonny Farber (1:47.67) added a third-place result, just missing out on second by .19 seconds to Fairfield.
After sophomore Gannon Flynn placed second in the 200 breaststroke at 1:59.53, classmate Diego Rosario finished third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:48.92. In the other two events, junior Henry Dvorak (45.41) led BU in the 100 free in eighth place and later helped freshman Jinu Hong, freshman Nathan Lee and sophomore Charlie Nenchev place fifth in the 400 free relay at 3:01.05.
The Terriers will next take an extended break and open the new year at Colgate on Jan. 10.

BOSTON, Mass. – Boston College swimming and diving wrapped up the Terrier Invite with yet another strong day as the Eagles set their third school and pool record of the weekend. BC men won the invite for the second straight year, finishing first with 1428 points, while the women came in sixth with 716 points.
In the final event of the night, the men’s 400 free relay set the school record, swimming 2:57.62 to win the race.
Palmer Bice continued his strong weekend as he recorded his second individual win of the weekend with a win in the 100 free. Bice was part of both the winning 400 free relay team and the winning 400 medley relay team. Augustas Lapys also recorded a victory in the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.98.

Up next: The Boston College Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving teams will return to action in the new year when they travel to North Carolina to take on UNC and UNC-Wilmington.
