The Florida Atlantic women and Towson men extended their leads on night three of the 2025 Patriot Invite. The night featured the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 400 medley relay, women’s 1-meter, and men’s 3-meter.

Women’s Recap

American University, Florida Atlantic, and Towson each had two individual winners on Friday night.

Coming into this meet, Bilú Bianchi (FAU) had already set a new personal best in the 100 breast in a dual meet earlier this season (1:01.52). She cut another half-second from that time, clocking 1:01.01 to top the field.

To close the meet, Meg Drover-Smith (56.27), Bianchi (1:01.84), Maja Piotrowicz (55.80), and Izzy Jones (49.77) combined for the win in the 400 medley relay (3:43.68). Bianchi and Jones had the fastest splits of their stroke in the field.

Nula Gow (FAU) cut over three seconds off her best time in the 400 IM, touching first by over three seconds (4:20.99). Her previous best of 4:24.41 was set over a year ago.

For American, Isabel McGovern posted her fastest 100 fly since the 2024 Patriot League Championships (55.30). She also put up the fastest fly split in the 400 medley relay (54.67), joining forces with teammates Piper Crosby on back (54.16), Marin Priddy on breast (1:03.77), and Grace Gilbert on free (51.81).

Crosby broke 54-seconds for the first time en route to the win in the 100 back (53.50). Her time is a new school record.

Towson’s Addie Scott lowered the meet record in the 200 free (1:47.72). Her teammate Shannon Parrau completed a sweep of the boards, earning 269.55 points on 1-meter.

Men’s Recap

Three swimmers picked up their second individual wins of the meet on Thursday.

FAU’s Daniel Laureyssens broke a 29-year-old school record in the 200 free. The senior swam 1:33.95 to take 0.38-seconds off the record set by Bela Szabados in 1996, a time that won the NCAA title. This is Laureyssens’ second school record of the meet after the 50 free. He also lowered his own pool and meet records from last year.

James Shevchenko was FAU’s other individual champion. His time of 3:48.79 in the 400 IM was a new school and meet record. He also won the 500 free on day two.

Jed Garner of Towson was the third swimmer to pick up a second event win. Garner clocked 52.65 in the 100 breast, just 0.25-seconds off his best time.

Sean Colson (Towson) won the 100 back in school and meet record fashion (47.23), lowering his previous best by 0.06-seconds.

Colson (47.84), Garner (51.68), Ben Eischeid (47.10), and Stephen McDonald (44.10) combined to beat the pool and meet record in the 400 medley relay to end the meet (3:10.72). Notably, that record included Brian Benzing, the 2024 NCAA runner-up in the 100 breast.

The host team, George Mason, had one event winner in Auon Al-Hiari, who won the 100 fly (47.00).

Towson’s Sam Tennell scored 269.55 points to win the 3-meter diving event.
