Barry’s Ristancev, Greisen Sweep Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Week Honors

ORLANDO, FLA- Barry University women’s swimmer Sofia Ristancev earned her first career Sunshine State Conference weekly honor. The freshman brought home the honor presented by Pollo Campreo for the week of Nov. 10 – Nov. 16 for her impressive performance at the Indian River Invite, where she broke multiple program record times.

Ristancev delivered an outstanding performance over the multiple events she participated in at the Indian River Invite from Nov.14 – Nov.15. She placed second in the women’s 100 back with a time of 59.12, the second fastest time in program history. She also participated in the women’s 200 back, where she set a new program record with a time of 2:05.18 while also placing second in the event. The freshman also contributed to two record-setting relay times with Ava McCarthyJenna Beck, and Ethena Conzemius to record a top-five school record time of 4:13.05 in the women’s 400 medley relay and set the third fastest time in school history for the women’s 200 medley relay at 1:54.86.

The Bucs will conclude the fall season at the NSU Shark Invite on Thursday, Dec.18 in Davie, Fla.

Barry University freshman Sebastian Greisen has earned his first Sunshine State Conference weekly award, presented by Pollo Campero, for the week of Nov. 10 – Nov. 16. Greisen secured the honor after an impressive showing at the Indian River invite, where he had a first-place finish and set multiple school records.

The freshman delivered a dominant performance over the week, earning top finishes and placing himself in the program record book. He placed second in the men’s 500 free with a time of 4:37.98, which also sets the sixth-fastest time in program history, and finished second in the men’s 200 free with a time of 1:41.83. Greisen then had a first-place finish in the men’s 200 free with an impressive time of 1:39.94 and had a third-place finish in the men’s 100 free with a time of 46.18. Lastly, aside from all individual events, Greisen contributed to a top 10 program time in the men’s 200 medley relay along with Wiktor WisniewskiRobin Tatar, and Efe Ertuzun with a time of 1:41.67.

The Bucs have their final fall season tournament at the NSU Shark Invite in Davie, Fla., on Thursday, Dec.18, at the NSU Aquatic Center.

Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Sebastian Greisen, Barry
Freshman – Copenhagen, Denmark

Greisen was the top performer for Barry at the Indian River CC Invite. The freshman claimed three individual medals and contributed to two relay podiums. The Dane won gold in the 200 free (1:39.94), silver in the 500 free (4:37.98), and bronze in the 100 free (46.18). He also helped the Buccaneers earn bronze in both the 200 free relay (1:41.67) and 400 free relay (3:11.49) as the leadoff swimmer.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Sofia Ristancev, Barry
Freshman – Windsor, Canada

Ristancev put Barry on the podium multiple times at the Indian River CC Invite with a series of strong swims. The freshman claimed four individual medals and contributed to a pair of relay highlights. The Windsor, Canada, native set the school record in the 200 back (2:05.18), won silver in the 200 and 100 back (2:05.18 | 59.12), and earned bronze in the 200 IM (2:16.44). She also helped the Buccaneers post top-five program times in both the 200 medley relay (1:54.86) and 400 medley relay (4:13.05).
