PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming and diving team opened the newly renovated Sheerr Pool with a 175-118 victory over Delaware Saturday afternoon.
Kayla Fu began her sophomore season off with a statement, shattering the Quakers’ pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.59 to headline the afternoon.
Fu and diver Sadie Howard each picked up a pair of victories, making up four of Penn’s 12 first-place finishes for the meet.

*Fu clocked a pool-record time of 53.59 in the 100 butterfly to finish first place, while Maggie Hu took second at 54.98. Fu also took first in the 50 free with a time of 23.12. Amy Qin placed second (23.42) with Amber Smith in third (23.79).
*Senior Sadie Howard swept both diving events, taking home first place in both the one-meter (270.83) and three-meter (283.65) dives.
*In the one meter, Rachel Yang took second place with a score of 265.58. In the three meter, Yang placed second (258.90) with freshman Caroline Holcomb in third at 255.83.
*Quaker distance was on full display once again with Anna Boeckman’s first-place finish in the 1000 free, timing in at 10:13.81. Sydney Bergstrom took second with a time of 10:15.76.
*Katya Eruslanova got her junior year started with a time of 1:51.85 to win the 200 free, while Anna Moehn placed third (1:54.56).
*Penn took 1-2-3 in the 100 back led by Kate Levensten (54.55) in first, Brianna Cong (55.36) in second and Connie Wang (55.57) in third.
*Qin took care of business in the 100 free with a 51.35, followed by Wang (51.65).
*Cong won the first individual event of her collegiate career in the 200 back with a time of 2:00.62.
*Meredith Holcomb was victorious in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.14. Abby Druhan placed third at 2:21.04.
*An NCAA qualifier in this event a year ago, Anna Moehn clocked a 4:55.81 in the 500 free to place first, while Caroline Cancelmo took third at 5:03.64.
*Holcomb took second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.89, while Kate Handley placed third at 1:05.04.
*Lily Zhang finished second in the 200 fly, timing in at 2:04.21 and beat out teammate Erica Maltsev (2:06.26) for third.
*The Quakers opened the meet with a relay win in the 200 medley, as Qin, Handley, Hu, and Fu got the win with a time of 1:42.26. The team of Cong, Holcomb, Smith, and Wang placed third (1:44.16).

PHILADELPHIA – University of Delaware women’s swimming and diving program was defeated by the University of Pennsylvania in its first away meet of the year by a score of 175.00 to 118.00.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Victoria Novinskiy continued her stellar start to the season for the Fightin’ Blue Hens by winning two events, just two weeks after setting the ASUN record in the 200-fly at 2:01.10.
RESULTS
- Delaware placed first in four events on the day.
The following athletes finished in first place in their respective events:
- Bri Cottingham raced to victory in the 100-yd breast for the second meet in a row at 1:03.84.
- Novinskiy picked up two wins in the meet, winning the 200-fly and 200-IM
- In the 200-IM, Novinskiy raced to a win at 2:03.12 and was followed up by Marisa Schenkenberger and Torun McGillis.
- The final win of the day for the UD was in the 200-yd free. Angi Ragazzoni, Elishka Hajek, Abby Steinbrook, and Olivia Willemsen at 1:36.23.
