Florida Swimming & Diving Welcomes Virginia in Home Opener

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams open their 2025-26 home slate this Friday, hosting the five-time defending National Champion Virginia women and the Cavalier men at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Natatorium.

Friday’s dual meet will feature two swimming sessions, with the morning session beginning at 10 a.m. Gator Diving will compete in the springboard events at 12:30 p.m., followed by the second swimming session at 4 p.m. to close out the meet.

Gators Last Time Out at Indiana

  • The Florida swimming and diving teams split their season-opener dual meet against Indiana on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Hoosiers’ Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center. The Gator women secured a 170-130 victory, while the men fell to the Hoosiers, 208-92.
  • Florida’s women dominated the meet with 10 event wins and swept the top two spots in seven of the 12 swimming events. Julie Brousseau and Lainy Kruger each contributed 18 points to the team total after both earning two individual event wins and swimming on the 400-yard medley relay team who finished second.

Florida Duo Named SEC Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week

  • Following their performances in the women’s season-opening win at Indiana, Florida’s Lainy Kruger and Maria Garcia were recognized on Tuesday, Sept. 30 as part of the Southeastern Conference’s first weekly awards of the season.
  • Kruger, a junior from Taylor Mill, Kentucky, was named SEC Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while Garcia, a freshman from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, earned SEC Women’s Diver of the Week. The honors are the first career weekly accolade for both Gators.
