ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine swim team took gold in all but one event on day one of its season opening meet with New Brunswick on Saturday afternoon at Wallace Pool.
Amelia Obszarny, Elle Cadigan, Alicia Littler, and Mia Poirier combined to take the top mark in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:38.59. Charlotte Hoover, Eva Welsh, Macy Organ, and Lydia Williams teamed up to win the 400-yard medley relay at 3:58.78.
Poirier and Organ joined Joey Stauss and Julian Lapietra to take gold in the mixed 400-yard freestyle relay with a team time of 3:24.66.
Individual winners:

- Welsh – 200 IM – 2:11.79

ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine women’s swim team closed out its season opening meet with New Brunswick on Sunday morning at Wallace Pool.
Bella Wilkinson posted her first career win with a title in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:03.22 while Eva Welsh added a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.13).
Emily Yorkievitz took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle (55.09) while Charlotte Hoover captured first place in the 100-yard IM at 1:02.05.
Hoover, Welsh, Macy Organ and Amelia Obszarny combined to win the 200-yard medley relay at 1:51.48.
Mia Poirier and Obszarny joined Noah Machristie and Julian Lapietra to win the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.22
Maine returns to action on Oct. 18 when it hosts Maine Maritime Academy at 1 p.m.
ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine men’s swim team began its season strong as it took first place in all individual and relay events on day one of its season opening meet against New Brunswick.
Maine’s team of Julian Lapietra, Joey Stauss, Matthew Bendoraitis, and Jesse Lower took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:25.99 while Jackson White, Nate Teerlinck, Calvin Comeau, and Noah Machristie teamed up to take the top spot at 3:34.62 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Stauss and Lapietra joined Mia Poirier and Macy Organ to take first in the 400-yard freestyle mixed relay at 3:24.66.

ORONO, Maine — Joey Stauss posted two individual wins and a relay victory to lead the way on day two of Maine’s season opening meet with New Brunswick on Sunday at Wallace Pool.
Stauss took first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (49.53) and the 100-yard IM (52.73).
Matthew Bendoraitis added a win in the 100-yard backstroke at 53.38 while Jesse Lower took first place honors in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.16.
Julian Lapietra rounded out Maine’s individual victors with a win in the 100-yard freestyle (47.74).
Bendoraitis, Nate Teerlinck, Stauss, and Lapietra took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a combined mark of 1:35.26.
Noah Machristie and Lapietra teamed up with Mia Poirier and Amelia Obszarny to win the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.22.
Maine returns to action on Oct. 18 when it hosts Maine Martime Academy at 1 p.m.
