Honorable Mention Kayda Geyer Sends Verbal to Colorado State for 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mecklenburg Swim Association’s Kayda Geyer has committed to swim at Colorado State University next fall. Geyer was an honorable mention in SwimSwam’s ranking of the top 20 recruits in the girls’ high school class of 2026.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Colorado State University! Thank you to Coach Woody, Coach Lisa, and my family for making this possible! Go rams!

Geyer recently represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships (LCM) earlier this month, where she finished 8th in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.58) and 14th in the 100 breast (1:09.73).

Before those championships, Geyer had an impressive showing at the U.S. National Championships (LCM) in June, ending her meet with a pair of lifetime bests in both the 200 breast (2:28.79, 8th overall) and the 50 breast (32.58, 28th overall). She added a top 20 finish in the 100 breast at the meet with a 15th-place 1:10.21.

Geyer was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2024.

At the North Carolina 1A/2A State Championships (SCY) in February, she took home the win in the 100 breast in 1:01.04, a lifetime best at the time (before lowering it just over a month later to 1:00.66). Additionally, Geyer was runner-up in the 200 IM, touching in 2:01.06, her fastest performance ever in the event.

Geyer is the daughter of former LSU Head Coach Dave Geyer, who coached the Tigers for 11 years.

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 Breast: 1:00.66
  • 200 Breast: 2:11.00
  • 200 IM: 2:01.06
  • 400 IM: 4:16.48

The Colorado State women finished 7th out of 10 teams at last season’s Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships. Based on the results of that meet, Geyer is set to make an immediate impact at the conference level for the Rams.

Geyer has surged into national prominence over the past year, cutting her 100 breast from 1:03.3 to 1:00.6 and her 200 breast from 2:16.2 to 2:11.0, ranking her 6th and 2nd in the class of 2026, respectively.

Geyer’s 200 breast and 400 IM times would have finished 5th overall, and her 100 breast would have been 6th.

Her breaststroke times would have led Colorado State’s roster last season, while her 200 IM would have ranked 2nd on the team.

The Colorado State women’s team will graduate eight seniors following the 2025-2026 season.

Ram’s Head Coach Christopher Woodard will retool the roster with the 2026 recruiting class, which also includes Avery Lonergan, Lauren Golden, and Aubrey Martin.

Her dad did the Power 5 thing. Maybe after that experience, they decided they wanted something different.

Why not? Bigger fish in a smaller pond? Best fit athletically, academically, socially? Plus, Fort Collins is a cool town. I applaud her choice and wish her luck.
