2025 NCAA Runner Up Mackenzie Miller Transferring From BYU To Fresno State

2025 NCAA runner up in the women’s 200 breaststroke Mackenzie Miller will transfer to Fresno State for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Miller spent the last three seasons at BYU.

Miller will travel closer to home as she is originally from Sanger, California. Sanger is only a 20 minute drive from Fresno State’s campus.

This past March, Miller scored all 29 points for BYU at the 2025 NCAA Championships. She finished 2nd in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:05.03 as well as 7th in the 100 breast with a 58.39. She was slightly faster in prelims of the 100 breast with a 58.14. She made huge strides this past season as she had never broken 1:00 in the 100 breast and the 2:10 mark in the 200 breast prior to this past season.

Miller’s Best SCY Times:

  • 100 breast: 58.14
  • 200 breast: 2:05.03
  • 200 IM: 1:57.62

The Fresno State women were 3rd out of 10 teams at the 2025 Mountain West Conference. The team went on to finish 43rd at 2025 NCAAs and had two individual swimmers qualify for the meet. Rising senior Aliz Kalmar swam to a 16th place finish in the 200 breast with a 2:09.17. That made her Fresno State’s first All-American in program history.

Miller is a huge pick up for Fresno State and will have the chance to train alongside Kalmar as the two are in their senior seasons. The two have the potential to make history this upcoming season and could become All-Americans together. Jenna Pulkkinen also swam in the breaststroke events at 2025 NCAAs as she was 27th in the 100 breast (59.45) and 35th in the 200 breast (2:10.85). Pulkkinen just finished her sophomore season.

Fresno is going to have a very impressive breaststroke group this year. Love to see it at the non-traditional powerhouse schools. Good luck.

Again I ask, if the official roster calls her Mackenzie Miller Lung, and she refers to herself on Instagram by the same name, shouldn’t we be calling her the same thing in articles instead of only using her maiden name?

This made more sense to me when I saw that she is going for her Master’s degree (which makes me assume she has already earned her Bachelor’s degree.

I believe she’s moving there to be close to her husband as well.
