Swims You Might Have Missed On The Final Day Of The 2025 World Junior Championships

2025 World Junior Swimming Championships

The sixth and final night at the 2025 World Junior Championships encapsulated the meet as a whole, with medals separated by hundredths of a second, nail-biting relays, and championship records going down. However, SwimSwam wants to highlight a few performances that may have gone under the radar and weren’t discussed in significant detail in its own article or during the live recap:

  • Kaidy Stout of the USA hit a huge personal best to clinch the bronze medal in the 200 breast. After turning in 5th at the first 50, she blasted a 36.80 on the second 50 to hit the 100 mark in 3rd and never relinquish that spot. Stout entered the meet with a personal best of 2:28.63, set at NC Senior Championships in July, and has knocked nearly 2 full seconds off that time this meet.
  • David Melnychuk took home the sole medal for the Team USA men tonight, swimming a 1:58.13 for bronze. To do so, the UNC commit shaved 1.40 seconds off his previous best of 1:59.53.
  • After posting a huge PB in the 800 free earlier this meet, William Mulgrew continued to roll as he posted a time of 15:05.97 in the 1500 to place 5th overall. The Harvard commit shaved 5+ seconds off his former best of 15:11.52, which came from USA Nationals earlier this summer.
  • Carlos D’Ambrosio made his final swim worth it, as he posted the quickest freestyle split in the field in the boys’ 4×100 medley relay. He brought the Italians up from 5th to bronze with a blistering fast time of 47.27, splitting 22.75/24.52 despite the slowest flying reaction time of .37.
  • Theodora Taylor, the silver medalist in the 50 free, flashed her versatility by posting an incredible 1:07.30 split in the 100 breast. Although the Brits were unable to maintain the lead, her efforts rocketed Great Britain up from 7th to 1st in the girls’ 4×100 medley relay after her leg.
