European Junior Champion Blythe Kinsman Logs 50 Fly PB At Aquatics GB Next Gen

2025 AQUATICS GB NEXT GEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2025 Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships continued on from Sheffield with several young European Junior Championships stars taking to the Ponds Forge pool.

Among them was 16-year-old Amalie Smith, with the RTW Monson swimmer taking on the girls’ 200m freestyle.

Smith, who won the 400m IM in Slovakia in a new British Age Record, stopped the clock at a time of 2:01.63 to top her age group’s podium.

That time was within striking distance of her lifetime best, a mark which stands at the 2:00.71 notched at this year’s Aquatics GB Championships.

Plymouth Leander teen Jack Brown also dove in this evening, racing in the 100m butterfly for 17/18-year-old boys.

Brown produced an outing of 53.12 to get the job done, holding off Mt Kelly’s Abduljabar Adama who settled for silver in 53.70.

Matthew Hamilton rounded out the podium in 54.02.

Brown was also in Slovakia, where he was a member of two of GBR’s medal-winning relays. He helped the nation take bronze in the boys’ 4x100m free relay and upgraded to gold on the boys’ 4x100m medley.

Finally, Blythe Kinsman made her presence known in Sheffield, winning the 17/18-year-old girls’ 50m fly event.

However, the teen wasn’t alone, as both she and Mt Kelly teammate Flawia Kamzol of Poland touched simultaneously in 26.51 to share gold.

Skye Carter bagged the bronze just over half a second behind in 27.04.

For Kinsman, her time produced a new lifetime best, overtaking her previous PB of 26.70 logged in April of this year. She is now Great Britain’s 10th-swiftest performer of all time.
