The 2025 Last Chance Summer Luau in Goshen, Indiana, gave many age-group swimmers across Indiana a last shot to secure their spot at summer championships later this summer. The competition featured various standout National Age Group ranking performances from Gabriel Brown.
The 9-year-old from Fishers Area Swimming Tigers climbed the ranks in the 10 & Under National Age Group leaderboard in three events at the Last Chance Summer Luau in Goshen, Indiana.
Brown clocked a 5:20.46 in the 500 freestyle, slotting him in as the 22nd fastest 10 & Under performer in American history. That time topped the overall standings across all age groups in Goshen.
With a 2:17.19 in the 200 IM, Brown becomes the 31st fastest performer in the age group in American history. Finishing with the 3rd fastest performance of the meet in the process, and the youngest performer in the top 10 of the competition by at least three years in the 200 IM.
In the 200 freestyle, Brown turned in a 2:02.79, finishing with the 4th overall time at the meet. A time good enough for 59th on the all-time 200 freestyle 10 & Under National Age Group leaderboard.
In addition to his all-time NAG leaderboard ranking swims, Brown finished with a 26.91 in the 50 free, over two seconds faster than any other swimmer in the 9-10 age group at the meet. Brown’s best time of 26.57 puts him as the 85th fastest 10 & Under performer.
Brown’s meet rounded out with a pair of 3rd place overall finishes in the 50 back with a 30.09 (.08 off of the top 100 all-time 10 & Under NAG leaderboard in the event), and the 100 back in 1:05.04.
Brown, still only 9 years old, will have plenty of opportunities to rise in the all-time 10 & Under NAG rankings, still having the entirety of his 10-year-old season ahead of him.
Some other notable swims include:
- 15-year-old Owen Mettham of Warrior Swimming turned in the fastest time in the 50 freestyle with a 22.73.
- Michiana Marlins Swim Club’s Nolan Laneman, 10, swam to a pair of 2nd-place finishes in the 50 back (33.04) and the 100 back (1:13.44), both races finishing behind Brown.
Brown’s swims in Goshen mark one of his strongest meets of his very young career as he continues to rise as one of Indiana’s top age group talents as the summer championship window approaches.

Owen Mettham is one to watch this year.
Your son is fantastic to watch swim. However, over the last 9-10 days he’s been at meets more days than not. I hope you’re giving him time to be a kid too.
Yep! He is the driver when it comes to his goals and meets outside his team schedule. The second meet was an intrasquad time trial that he really wanted to attend just to hang with his buddies. And the third one l we scratched finals in order to go play an hang with some family close by.
The advice that a happy swimmer is a fast swimmer rings true with Gabriel.
As an over scheduled dad, I’m looking forward to August where we take a break from the pool deck and start hanging out with our cross country friends again 🙂
A lot of kids seem happy if they are making their parent(s) happy. Sometimes it’s on us, the adults, to make sure they are really having fun away from the pool too. There are parents like you that we see in every kids sport. Some of those kids make it big, but most don’t. They can always practice more in the future, they can never be 9 again.
Congratulations from another Tiger Family!
So proud of you Gabe! Good luck in AGS and Zones coming up soon 🙂
oh you again..
