PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women’s swimming and diving closed out its dual meet season with a win over Cornell on Saturday. The Bears won all but one event, and set two program records, on the day in a 236-64 rout of the Big Red.
Jenna Reznicek broke the school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:56.27 and Isabella George broke the school record in the 1-meter springboard with 300.45 points.
The Bears started the day taking the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. Jenna Reznicek, Ellie Brault, Zehra Bilgin and Audrey Chung won the event with a time of 1:40.74. Lily Welsh, Kaitlyn Holmes, Lily Klinginsmith and Emilia Barck took second (1:42.29).
Crystal Yuen won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.17. Yuen also won the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:51.00 and Dana Li was second in the event (4:56.69).
The Bears swept the 100 backstroke as Reznicek won the event in 53.11, followed by Welsh (54.93) and Nadia Thomas (55.13). Reznicek also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:56.27 and Livia Venditti took second (1:56.30).
Brown also swept the 100 breaststroke with Amie Barrow winning the event with a time of 1:02.57. Holmes was second (1:03.06), followed by Brault (1:03.41). The same trio also swept the 200 breaststroke with Barrow on top (2:15.49), followed by Holmes (2:16.02) and Brault (2:17.99).
Bilgin earned the win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.83. Lizzy Washburn was second (2:00.96) and Sumner Chmielewski placed third (2:03.38). Bilgin also won the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.73 with Reznicek finishing second (54.15) and Washburn taking third (54.56).
Chung was the top finisher in the 50 freestyle (23.17) with Kelly Dolce finishing second (23.36).
The Bears owned the podium in the 100 freestyle with Klinginsmith winning the event (49.78), Dolce taking second (50.14) and Chung finishing third (50.80).
In the 200 IM, Anna Podurgiel won the event in a time of 2:02.03. Klinginsmith placed second (2:03.42) and Barck was third (2:03.76).
Isabella George won both the 3-meter (296.78) and 1-meter (300.45) events and a Elena Yeh finished second in the 1-meter (286.95). Bowie Krawczyk was third in both events.
Sara Barrett took second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:06.25.
The Bears closed out the night with a first-place finish by the team of Yuen, Dolce, Chung and Bilgin in the 200 free relay (1:31.92).

Brown will have athletes take part in the Boston Winter Open before the Bears will compete in the Ivy League Championships in Princeton on Feb. 19-22.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men’s swimming finished its dual meet season against Cornell on Saturday’s senior day. The Bears earned seven wins on the day.
Brown began the afternoon with a win in the 200 medley relay by the team of Marton Nagy, Jack Kelly, Tucker Peterson and Marcus Lee (1:26.15).
The top-two spots in the 1000 freestyle belonged to the Bears with Matt Williamson winning the event (9:02.92) and Christian Duetoft taking second (9:07.10).
Jack Kelly earned the win in the 100 breaststroke finishing with a time of 52.86. Kelly also won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 1:54.05 and Jake Regenwetter took second (1:58.62).
Nagy earned a win in the 200 IM, clocking a time of 1:44.99.
Brown swept the boards with the trio of Rowland Lawver, Matteo Vasiliadis and Marcel Mateos Salles going 1-2-3 in both events. Lawver scored 377.63 on the 1-meter and 380.46 on the 3-meter.
The Bears also had multiple second-place finishes – Nagy (100 backstroke – 48.11, 200 backstroke – 1:43.98)), Lee (50 freestyle – 19.97, 100 freestyle – 43.75) and Duetoft (500 freestyle – 4:25.63).

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Cornell women’s swimming and diving team fell to the Brown Bears by a score of 236-64 on Saturday afternoon at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Erin DeHollander bested the field in the 1000 yard freestyle with her time of 10:06.25.
DeHollander also registered a second-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:49.55). The Big Red fielded a 200 yard medley relay squad of Mingna Xu, Audrey Holden, Tori Zhang, and Kate Li that finished in third-place (1:42.34). Zhang was third in the 50 yard freestyle (23.52 seconds).
Hojung Yoon collected a third-place result in the 200 yard backstroke (1:57.85). Jungmin Yoon earned third-place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:01.66). The Big Red women finished out the afternoon by taking second-place in the 200 yard freestyle relay (Li, Addiego, Springer, Zhang – 1:34.26).

The Cornell women’s swimming and diving team will return to the water on Saturday, February 1 for competition against Le Moyne at Nottingham High School.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Cornell men’s swimming and diving team defeated the Brown Bears 152-148 on Saturday afternoon at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Big Red collected nine event-victories on the afternoon.
“After a disappointing disqualification on the first relay due to an early takeoff by the last leg, we battled back all day long to get the win on the last event.”, Wes Newman, the Philip H. Bartels ’71 Head Coach of Men’s Swimming mentioned.
Pietro Ubertalli took first-place in the 200 yard freestyle (1:35.61), as well as the 200 yard backstroke (1:43.74). Blake Conway registered a finish in the top-spot of the 100 yard backstroke, racing to a time of 47.18 seconds. Joseph Gurski topped the leaderboard of the 200 yard butterfly with his 1:42.90 finish, along with the 100 yard butterfly (46.69 seconds).
Josh Toothman bested the field in the 50 yard freestyle (19.94 seconds). Dominic Edwards earned his way to the top of the rankings in the 100 yard freestyle (43.71 seconds). Julian Correa won the 500 yard freestyle by a razor-slim margin (4:25.28). To end the day, a 400 yard freestyle relay squad of Ubertalli, Jacques Grove, Will Taner, Dominic Edwards earned a clutch victory to give Cornell the four-point victory over the Brown Bears.
“Each person on our team battled back from that adversity and there were many great performances! I’m proud of how well our guys responded to a tough situation and earned a winning record for the league and overall.”, Newman concluded with.
