CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team showed out during its final home meet of the 2024-25 season on Friday and Saturday, scoring a 208.5-144.5 dual win over the Illinois State Redbirds inside the Glen F. Henry Pool.
Northern Iowa won 11 events in its final dual of the year, while also setting new pool records in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly. Junior diver Erica Peters also moved into the top-five on the three-meter boards as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Competition began on Friday with the three-meter diving that saw Peters place second with a career-best score of 275.10. Avery Hogan followed with a score of 248.48 in third place, with Hannah Taylor close behind in fourth (242.48).
The 400-yard medley relay team of Elyse Brayton, Sydney Aird, Hannah Nedder and Faith Larsen took home first place with a winning time of 3:51.94, while Olivia Chambers won the 400-yard individual medley (4:35.79) with Crystal Benjamin placing third (4:45.20) and Meghan Pallett taking fourth (4:45.81).
Morgan Meyer also came out on top for the Panthers in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:52.34 with Hallory Domnick shortly behind in second with a 1:55.57. Two-time defending Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) champion Larsen would come out on top in the 50-yard freestyle with a pool record time of 23.39 seconds, as Abby Lear finished in second (24.07). In the 200-yard butterfly, Nikki Walters came out on top after clocking a 2:05.90, with Natalie Harris claiming third place (2:10.15).
Brayton would top the podium individually in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.76 as Meyer secured third at 58.35. Ema Lavigne took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.87) with Jenna Breitbach placing third (1:07.62) and Aird finishing fourth (1:07.78).
Chambers returned to the top of the podium for a second time in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a winning time of 10:35.76, followed by Hallory Domnick in second (10:42.31) and Abigail Barkhurst (10:43.64). UNI closed out the first night of action with Waren Graeve, Lear, Larsen and Meyer winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a pool record time of 1:34.42.
Day two of the competition started with Peters leading the Panthers with a second-place finish in the one-meter competition (249.95), as Trista Thompson took third (249.95), followed by Hogan (243.09) and Taylor (243.00).
The 200-yard medley relay squad of Brayton, Breitbach, Nedder and Larsen took second (1:47.11) in Saturday’s first swimming event, with Lear, Aird, Harris and Meyer taking fourth (1:50.06). Chambers claimed second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.14, while Domnick came in third at 5:13.41.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Pallett secured second with a time of 2:28.06 as Breitbach followed in third at 2:29.65. Brayton also placed third in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.04.
The Panthers saw a podium sweep in the 100-yard freestyle as Meyer placed first (52.37), with Lear in second (53.72) and Graeve in third (53.80). In the 100-yard butterfly, Larsen finished second with a time of 57.73, as Nedder followed behind in third with a time of 57.91. Harris came out on top for UNI in the 200-yard individual with a time of 2:11.15, as Chambers was able to secure third in 2:14.30.
Finishing out the meet, Northern Iowa saw great success in the 400-yard free relay with the team of Meyer, Larsen, Lear and Graeve taking the top prize with a time of 3:32.32. The squad of Domnick, Nedder, Lavigne and Peyton Pasqualicchio took third with a time of 3:39.33.

The Panthers return in action Jan. 31-Feb. 1 with divers heading to Omaha to compete at the Omaha Diving Invite at the H&K Pool in Omaha, Nebraska. Diving begins at 6 p.m. CT on Jan. 31 and 12 p.m. CT on Feb. 1.
Swimming will head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Coyote Invite at the Midco Aquatic Center. Competition will begin Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. CT and continue on Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. CT and 4 p.m. CT.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa.– Illinois State swimming and diving recorded six titles on Saturday, falling to UNI 208.5-144.5, to conclude the weekend.
Diving was highlighted by senior Eva Reyes, who broke a Glen F. Henry facility record in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 301.80. In the pool, the Redbirds claimed four individual titles led by Sylvia Admire’s 500-free title in a time of 5:12.87
