Don’t bother putting NCAAs on that schedule.

Has Marquette announced their schedule yet? Because this might be the debut meet for their newly added program.

If I were a recruit, and I saw this schedule, it’d be an immediate write off. Who wants to have 500 training sessions a year and compete so few times collegiately.

You’d have to write-off virtually every college swim program then….

I’m not sure where you are coming from – this is a very typical schedule for a single-gender college team. The team is allowed to have 20 dates of competition – they use 11 of them (not counting any post-season action). Yes, they could probably have a few more meets, but that involves more travel, lodging, meals, etc. that all have associated costs. If SwimGod is willing to make a donation to Iowa S&D so they can have more meets, I’m sure they would be happy to accept!

FWIW, it is also harder to schedule meets as a single-gender team versus scheduling as a combined program, hence why comparing to other B1G programs might not be a fair comparison.

Well … they could also drop some mid-majors and add some stronger conference opponents. Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan all notably absent (again) from their slate. Even Rutgers and Penn State didn’t make this list. And their Hawkeye invite in November …. check out that team list on Meet Mobile.

It’s not the athletes’ fault. They’re all good kids, doing their best. These calls are on the coach (and AD).

The real joke is the number of conference opponents they will swim against. 5 out of 14

asinine way of counting.
NCAAs = not B1G?
B1G Championships = not B1G??
Hosting one of the few go-to women’s midseason invites = not B1G???
Diving @ a premier diving facility = not B1G????
This is a Big 10 heavy schedule whether you like it or not. Even if the opponents trend closer to Iowa’s single-gender lane than you think is adequate. And If you think the Marquette meet is a waste of time then you don’t have the best interest of the sport in mind. The Miami meet is a no-brainer.
