LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Xavier men’s and women’s swimming wrapped up the first weekend of competition in 2025 at Bellarmine, winning 16 of 28 events against the Knights and NKU.
Xavier will take part in the final two meets ahead of the 2025 BIG EAST Championships next weekend, opening the weekend at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:00 PM. The Musketeers then travel to Fishers, Ind., to take part in the Butler Invite on Sunday, Jan. 26 at noon.
- Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster opened up the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, setting a time of 1:45.83. Xavier’s B-Squad of Abby Bocian, Karlie Dodd, Norah Simich and Alexis Worrall placed second.
- Mary Sweetman set a time of 10:55.22 to place second in the 1000 free.
- Alexis Worrall led three Musketeers in the top three of the 200 free, finishing in 1:53.25. Olivia Oyster placed second and Norah Simich finished third.
- Molly Dynda finished the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.81, tying for second.
- Ava Tenhundfeld won the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.54. She also placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:39.27 while Teegan Madara placed second.
- Reese Turner took first in the 50 free with a time of 24.90. Norah Simich placed third.
- Olivia Oyster placed first in the 100 free with a time of 50.92. Alexis Worrall, Reese Turner and Molly Dynda followed her in, with the Musketeers taking the top four spots.
- Amy Van Son’s time of 2:09.39 led the Musketeers in the 200 back, placing second.
- Jordyn Libler took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.90.
- Abby Bocian won the 500 free, finishing in a time of 5:10.09. She also led Xavier in the 100 back, placing second with a time of 58.71.
- Maggie O’Toole set a time of 1:00.99 in the 100 fly to place third.
- Xavier wrapped up the meet by taking the top two spots in the 200 free relay, with Olivia Oyster, Molly Dynda, Reese Turner and Alexis Worrall taking first with a time of 1:35.51. Erin Ritz, Maddy Lathrop, Mary Sweetman and Norah Simich placed second.
- The women won nine of 14 events, topping NKU and Bellarmine.

men’s notable
- Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson placed second in the 200 medley relay, finishing in a time of 1:33.47. Matt Fralic, Brandon Malicki, Caleb Petranchuk and Matthew Adanin finished third.
- Owen Schwebach set a time of 9:52.29 in the 1000 free, placing second.
- Luke Peterson led Xavier in the 200 free, placing second with a time of 1:44.80.
- Matt Fralic won the 100 back in a time of 51.20.
- Brandon Malicki placed first in the 100 breast, finishing in a time of 57.50.
- Aiden Leamer took the top spot in the 200 fly, finishing in a time of 1:49.14. Leamer also won the 100 fly with a time of 50.00. Owen Schwebach placed third.
- Gage Hannewyk placed second in the 50 free with a time of 21.33. Kyle Hudson placed third.
- Hannewyk and Hudson both finished the 100 free in 47.39 to tie for second.
- Nate Finnegan placed second in the 200 back with a time of 1:56.45.
- Nathan Wall won the 400 IM with a time of 4:07.55. He set a time of 2:11.07 to place second in the 200 breast.
- Ryan Knipp placed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.67.
- Ethan Saunders, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer and Gage Hannewyk finished first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.27. Colin Jordan, Matthew Adanin, Caleb Petranchuk and Matt Fralic placed third.
- The Musketeers won seven of 14 events on the men’s side, topping NKU but falling narrowly to BU, 131-130.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine University swimming made its return to the pool in strong fashion on Saturday as the men’s and women’s squads combined for 12 wins in 28 events against Xavier and Northern Kentucky on senior day at Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
Both the men and women topped Northern Kentucky’s newly minted team, while the men also claimed a 131-130 victory over Xavier to sweep the day.
The competition was the Knights’ first after nearly a full month of training since their last dual against Ball State on November 23.
On the men’s side, seniors JP Metzner and Brandon Thomas lead the charge with three podium finishes each. Metzner took gold in both the 50 and 100 freestyle (20.79 and 46.97, respectively) while also placing second in the 100 butterfly (50.73). Thomas finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.45 while also placing second in the 400 IM (4:09.02) and third in the 100 breaststroke (59.25).
Junior Sam Jones touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (9:50.22) while sophomores Evan Dickson and Colin Jackson won the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke with times of 1:42.93 and 1:54.43, respectively. Jones also turned in podium finishes in the 200 butterfly (2nd, 2:02.03) and the 500 freestyle (3rd, 4:49.23). Jackson also added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (51.24) while grad student Andrew Nguyen placed second in the 100 breaststroke (58.97) and junior Cason Henderson placed second in the 400 IM (4:12.85)
In addition, the group of Jackson, Nguyen, Metzner and junior Caleb Howard took first in the 200 medley relay.
On the women’s side, senior Alexandra Pierce and freshman Lily Wolfe earned three podium finishes each. Pierce took gold in both the 100 breaststroke (1:06.16) and the 100 butterfly (58.32) while adding a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.31). Wolfe touched the wall first in the 1000 free (10:50.05) while taking second in the 500 freestyle (5:20.67) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:18.01).
Freshman Micaela Godfrey tied Pierce with two golds on the day, winning back the 100 and 200 backstroke. Fellow freshman Annie Leibold added two second place finishes in the 100 and 200 butterfly.
In addition, junior Erin Dall’Agnol placed third in the 200 breaststroke as did sophomore Charlotte Tully in the 400 IM and freshman Clara McIntyre in the 500 freestyle. Fellow freshman Ava Jones took second in the 50 freestyle.
Up next, Bellarmine will close out its regular season with one final dual, traveling to Evansville, IN for a bout with University of Evansville on February 1st.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Northern Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming returned to the pool for the first time since November on Saturday, as the Norse battled Bellarmine.
Frank Runge impressed with a third place finish in the 1000 Free, while Ethan Johnson finished third in the 200 fly. Patrick Gibbons finished fourth in the 100 yard free but was just 0.8 seconds behind the first place finisher.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Frank Runge impressed with a third place finish in the 1000 Free (10:00.41).
- Ethan Johnson finished third in the 200 fly (2:05.42).
- Patrick Gibbons finished fourth in the 100 yard free but was just 0.8 seconds behind the first place finisher (47.54).
- Tyler Cukovecki finished fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:18.48).
- Frank Runge finished second in the 500 yard free ahead of eight other student-athletes from both Bellarmine and Xavier (4:47.73).
- NKU’s A team in the 200 yard free relay finished fifth with a 1:28.67 time. The team consisted of Patrick Gibbons, Conner Norton, Ben Jorgensen, and Jeffrey Wenker.
