Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Quinn White, a junior at Wellesley High School in Wellesley, Massachusetts, has made a verbal commitment to swim and study at Duke University beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Duke University! A huge thank you to my family, friends, teachers, and coaches for their unwavering support on this journey. I also want to thank Coach Brian and the rest of the Duke coaching staff for this incredible opportunity! GO BLUE DEVILS💙😈”
White swims year-round with Shawmut Aquatic Club and is our #19-ranked swimmer on the Way Too Early list of top recruits from the high school class of 2026. She will join #14 Riley Anderson in the Duke class of 2030, giving the Blue Devils a huge boost for 2026-27.
This is only the second recruiting class for head coach Brian Barnes, who was named to the position in May 2023. Duke women finished in 5th place at the 2024 ACC Championships, scoring 779.5 points to eclipse their best performance ever (from 2018) at the conference meet. Duke women scored 80 points at NCAAs, too, coming in 16th, for their highest finish in program history.
White is an outstanding 200 backstroker, with a time (1:55.52) that ranks 3rd in the cohort. Her best LCM time (2:12.57) qualified for 2024 Olympic Trials, where she finished 39th with 2:14.08.
In December 2023, she had a couple of big meets, back-to-back. First, she clocked lifetime best in the 200 free (1:48.32), 500 free (4:49.29), 100 back (54.17), and 200 back (1:56.21) at Winter Juniors East. She finaled in all four events, placing 11th in the 200 free, 18th in the 500, 16th in the 100 back, and 11th in the 200 back. The following weekend, she competed at New England Swimming Senior Championships, where she won the 200 free, was runner-up in the 500 free, 1000 free, 200 back, and 200 IM, and placed 3rd in the 1650 free and 100 back. She finished the meet with new PBs in the 50 free (23.79), 100 free (50.28), mile (16:57.66), 50 back (26.05), 100 back (53.85), 200 back (1:55.52), and 200 IM (2:01.58).
In March, White updated a number of those times at Sectionals in Providence. She clocked in at 23.31/50.10/1:47.79 in the 50/100/200 free, led off a medley relay with a 25.84 backstroke, and swam an impressive 1:03.84 breaststroke.
In addition to her value as a breaststroker, White’s improvement curve in the sprint free events shows great promise for Duke’s relays.
Best SCY times:
- 200 back – 1:55.52
- 100 back – 53.85
- 500 free – 4:49.79
- 200 free – 1:47.79
- 100 free – 50.10
- 50 free – 23.31
