In the final of the men’s 100 butterfly at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Canadian swimmer Josh Liendo clocked a time of 49.99 to take silver behind Hungary’s Kristof Milak. With this swim, Liendo takes down his own Canadian record, and becomes just the five swimmer in history to go under 50 seconds in the 100 fly. His previous record had been a time of 50.06 from May of this year at Canadian Olympic trials.
Liendo is now the fifth-fastest performer of all-time in the men’s 100 fly. His Canadian teammate Ilya Kharun, who went 50.25 to take bronze, ties Australia’s Matt Temple as the eighth-fastest of all-time.

It was definitely a 1 hand touch on the finish, surprisingly not called
Apparently Canada has gotten over the Ben ( Who?) fiasco 🤣. Seems like they made it out the other side pretty well.

Liendo 1 hand touch by the looks of it
Should’ve been a DQ
wasn’t Kharun 50.45?
With a terrible one hand touch on the finish as well
Not sure Cavic was going 49.95 in 2021
Pretty sure that Cavic’s 49.95 is from 2009.
Yip
The greatest race of all time
