Reports to CEO & COO
Compensation: $45,000-$50,000 annually
Salary Supplement for Swim Camps ($3500 for each camp), Swim Clinics (commission) and Private Swim Lessons (dependent on how many lessons taught)
Hours per week: ~12-14 hours on deck + admin

This position maximizes the skilled tasks of an experienced swimming coach, instructor, and administrator.  The combination of skill sets is respectively integral to the operational success of Pikes Peak Athletics.  Work on the administrative side includes operational tasks related to scheduling and staff supervision.  One of the highest impact tasks in this role is working with other coaches.  Equally vital is pupil placement into lessons, Base Camp, and within the swim team.  Impeccable customer service is required; response time to other staff and to parents is paramount.  Every detail of service is important and affects the Pikes Peak Athletics experience.  The Head Age Group Coach position directs all elements of these essential swim team groups.

Pikes Peak Athletics Administrative Roles

  • Work closely with Pikes Peak Athletics Leadership Staff to coordinate responsibilities.
  • Lead all aspects of Groups 3 and 4.
  • Attend all Coaches Meetings and Manager Meetings and lead discussion and direction on the Age Group Team.
  • Attend PPA Strategy Meetings, Quarterly Meetings, and Annual Planning Meetings as requested.
  • Assist in tallying team records and coordinating updates to the team record board.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Head Age Group Coach Team Coach Roles

  • Work with other staff to lead team organization and communication, including prepping and running Coaches Meetings.
  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of coaches of Groups 1, 2, 3, and 4.
  • Work with Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4 coaches on season and weekly plans for those groups.
  • Coach Group 3 and Group 4 practices, arriving 20 minutes early, and being the last to leave.
  • Take attendance for Groups 3, and 4.
  • Build in time to set up and break down the pool, computers, video, and equipment as necessary.
  • Attend all meets and meet sessions in which Groups 3 and 4 swimmers are competing.

Other Coaching Duties

  • Assist Groups 1 and 2 as needed.
  • Assist with Group 5 as needed.
  • Substitute coach for other groups when needed.
  • Assist the Head Coach in evaluations of athlete group moves, keeping track of the roster and roster numbers.
  • Serve as masters coach fill-in as needed.

Swim Team Administration, Travel & Swim Camps

  • Assist in the coordination of the coaching schedule and disseminate to staff.
  • Assist in creating content for the team Weekly Update and other mass team communication.
  • Lead swim meet entry procedures and submission.
  • Attend various travel meets with the team and assist in the coordination, budgeting, and administration of those trips.
  • Act as Swim Camp Director for the Competitive Swim Camp and FUNdamentals Swim Camp as needed.
  • Assist the Swim Team Business Manager in developing and administering the team Safe Sport Program.

New Member & New Family Onboarding (assisting the Swim Team Business Manager)

  • Field phone calls and emails from potential swim team members.
  • Conduct swim team evaluations, place swimmers into the appropriate group, and follow-up with families as needed.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor processes for introduction and integration of new swim team members.
  • Ensure that new swimmers receive apparel and swim cap within 7 days of joining the team.

Swim Lesson Instruction and Strength & Conditioning

  • Plan, staff, and conduct stroke clinics.
  • Conduct private swim lessons, scheduling, and charging through Jackrabbit. Lessons are compensated in addition to salary.
  • Observe or participate in coaching Group 3 and Group 4 strength & conditioning workouts as assigned.
