Scoring System

Correctly picking a swimmer to place:

  • 1st – 11 points
  • 2nd – 9 points
  • 3rd – 7 points
  • 4th – 6 points

Correctly picking a swimmer to place but putting them in the wrong position will earn you one point.

Picks will close at 7:00 PM, U.S. Eastern Time on Friday, July 26th, 2024 and at that time we will post everyone’s picks for them to see.

You may go in and edit your responses up until 7:00 PM on Friday. You can also use the “edit responses” function to print or save your answers.

If necessary, the tie-breaker for prizes will be the most correctly-picked winners in the relevant time period, then 2nd-place finishers, then 3rd-place finishers, etc. in the relevant time period.

OFFICIAL RULES

Anybody is eligible to play but only certain people are eligible for prizes (which are forthcoming). For starters, only one entry per person is allowed. If we discover that you have made multiple entries, we may disqualify all of your entries.

To win prizes, entrant must:

  • Be 18 or older
  • Accept responsibility for any and all taxes
  • Accept responsibility for any impact on high school or college eligibility
  • Be a legal resident of the United States or Canada (prizes will only be mailed to these countries)
  • Must enter contest using their real name
  • No purchase is required for entry
  • Agree to allow SwimSwam to provide their personal information to a sponsor in order to distribute prizes

I’m gonna slot her in for 4th. Not too much harm done to my score if she doesn’t swim it, and if she podiums at least I get the consolidation point

I went for it and put her in first. But still think there is a 60% chance she scratches. Gotta keep thinking about that pick

I’ve always wondered how you guys arrived at top 4 for each event instead of the medalists or the full final?

It makes sense to me. It’s the medallists plus a backup. Gives you a little wiggle room without having to pick the exact podium. Picking the full final in order is too time consuming and most people would just pick 5-8 in order of entry time

You are assuming most of us aren’t swimming obsessed nerds

Perhaps. But then you get into nitty gritty of “what is the point”. Like… picking between silver and bronze or bronze and 4th is significant. Do you really want someone getting extra points because they successfully predicted who would come 7th and 8th?

I suspect that that 200 free will be the most popular pick of every event. I can see 50%+ of people choosing those exact 4 in that exact order

I think MOC for the 200 win. She hates losing.
