Ivey Named SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, Chaney & Magahey Share Men’s Award

Men’s Co-Swimmers of the Week: Adam Chaney, Florida and Jake Magahey, Georgia

Florida’s Adam Chaney, a senior from Mason, Ohio, won the 50 free in the dual meet win over South Carolina with a time of 20.42. Chaney was also the leadoff for the winning 400 medley relay (3:11.28/47.68) and swam the second leg of the winning 400 free relay (2:56.68/45.07).

Georgia’s Jake Magahey, a senior from Dacula, Ga., tallied three individual victories in the win at No. 10 Auburn. Magahey had the top times in the 500 free (4:23.15) and 1000 free (9:12.87). He also touched the wall first in the 200 fly with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:45.73. Magahey swam the third leg of the Bulldogs’ second-place 400 free relay (2:58.32/44.16).

Men’s Diver of the Week: Bryden Hattie, Tennessee

Tennessee’s Bryden Hattie, a senior from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, collected a pair of first-place finishes at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. On platform, Hattie earned a mark of 479.20, thanks to a final dive of 86.40 points in the Back 2 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Pike. On 3-meter, he landed an event-best dive of 81.6 on his final attempt to bring his winning total to 404.75. Hattie also added a seventh-place finish on 1-meter (320.15).

Men’s Freshman of the Week: Tomas Koski, Georgia

Georgia’s Tomas Koski, a freshman from Alpharetta, Ga., was a part of three podium finishes in the win at No. 10 Auburn. Koski earned his fourth dual win of the season in the event by topping the field in the 200 free with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:35.14. He then made his collegiate debut in the 500 free with a second-place time of 4:28.06 before closing the meet with the fastest leg of the Bulldogs’ second-place 400 free relay (2:58.32/43.94).

Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Isabel Ivey, Florida

Florida’s Isabel Ivey, a senior from Gainesville, Fla., won two individual events and was a part of a winning relay in the dual meet win over No. 21 South Carolina. Ivey placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a top time of 1:01.66 and in the 100 fly with an NCAA B-cut time of 52.58. She also swam the third leg of the first-place 400 medley relay (3:37.68/42.60) to help the Gators to improve to 6-1 on the year.

Women’s Diver of the Week: Ana Monroy, Florida

Florida’s Ana Monroy, a freshman from Laz Paz, Mexico, won two diving events at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. Monroy registered the top score on the 3-meter (313.80) and on platform (307.70) and finished fourth on the 1-meter (287.30). She was also a part of the women’s A team event that took first place with a score of 329.70.

Women’s Freshman of the Week: Helena Jones, Georgia

Georgia’s Helena Jones, a freshman from Portland, Ore., recorded four podium finishes, including two individual wins, in the victory at No. 14 Auburn. Jones touched the wall first in the 50 free with a time of 22.70 and in the 100 free with an NCAA B-cut time of 49.17. She then posted a 48.87 leadoff split in the 400 free relay, helping the Bulldogs secure the dual victory. Jones also had the fastest freestyle split of all competitors in the 200 medley relay with a time of 21.77 (1:39.46).
