LARAMIE, Wyo. (11/4/23) – Head coach Dave Denniston knew this week would prove challenging for his women’s swimming and diving team. Having to compete on back-to-back days, just 16 hours between meets, was going to test his team’s toughness, grit and stamina.

The Cowgirls passed each one of those tests with poise and precision. They downed Northern Colorado, 194-104, to improve to 5-0 on the season.

“Our women stepped up to a two-day challenge big time by beating UNC today,” Denniston said. “The coolest part of this season from my perspective is that the women have found a way to create a contagious positive energy at meets that fuels them through these types of challenges. It’s a unique aspect of our program that is fun for everyone to be a part of.”

Maisyn Klimczak kicked off the winning ways, claiming the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She won with a time of 10:27.72. Klimczak also took first in the 500-yard freestyle after logging a time of 5:10.06.

Tara Joyce topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:55.74. Joyce wasn’t close to done. She also won the 50-yard freestyle after recording a time of 23.88 and claimed a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.14.
