After entering the transfer portal at the beginning of April, Peyton Curry has announced she will be transferring to South Carolina for the upcoming season.

Curry spent her first two years at LSU. As a freshman, Curry made the SEC team ultimately placing 42nd in the 50 free, 52nd in the 100 free, and 59th in the 200 free.
In her sophomore season, Curry broke the 50-second barrier in the 100 freestyle swimming a personal best of 49.87. She finished 35th in the 50 free, 39th in the 100 free, and 51st in the 200 free. Notably, Curry was a member of LSU’s SEC Championship wining 200 free relay as she split a 22.23.
Curry’s best SCY times are:
- 50 free: 22.77 (freshman year)
- 100 free: 49.87 (sophomore year)
- 200 free: 1:48.75 (high school)
The South Carolina women finished eighth out of 12 teams at the 2023 SEC Championships. The team was led by diver Brooke Schultz who scored 64 individual points. In the pool, fifth year Victoria Kwan led the way with 51 individual points.
South Carolina finished fifth in the 200 free relay. Senior Janie Smith led off that relay, so there is one spot to fill on it.
Curry is not the first person to announce their transfer to South Carolina for this fall as Jordan Agliano will arrive on the women’s side after spending a year at Kentucky. On the men’s side, Linus Kahl will arrive after spending his freshman year at Alabama.
The SEC eliminated their intraconference transfers back in 2021, so Curry will be eligible to compete for the Gamecocks immediately. Curry is the younger sister to NCAA Champion Brooks Curry, who just finished his senior year at LSU.
