CHICAGO – The UIC men’s and women’s diving teams claimed top 5 spots at their last home meet of the season on Saturday. The Flames hosted several teams including UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Eau Claire, UChicago, Illinois State, and Evansville.

UIC INDIVIDUAL RESULTS (MEN)

  • Cole Tremewan won both the 1m and 3m events and set a new pool record at 3m. His total for the 3m event (404.00) was only two points away from breaking the school record, set last year by Fleix Lafortune.
  • Bruno Carrillo came in right behind Tremewan in the 1m dive. His total came to 315.60.

UIC INDIVIDUAL RESULTS (WOMEN)

  • On the 3m board, Kerry-Leigh Morrison finished second. Her score of 288.25 was a season-high for the event. With that score, Morrison has also qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships.
  • Kathryn Kleczka also had season-best scores in both the 1m (241.10) and 3m (227.25) events.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“Overall the UIC divers did very well and this meet was a great way for us to prepare for out upcoming conference championships,” said Head Diving Coach Susan Bromberg.

UP NEXT
The Flames’ will prepare for their conference championships. The men will compete in the MAC Championship in Oxford, OH from Wednesday, Mar. 1 to Saturday, Mar. 4. On the women’s side, the MVC Championship will take place starting Wednesday, Feb. 15 to Saturday, Feb. 18 in Iowa City, Iowa.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Saturday marked the final day of the regular-season schedule for the Milwaukee men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams, with the majority of the roster battling Stevens Point in dual action while the divers were at the UIC Diving Invitational.

The MKE diving contingent was led by an impressive performance by Julie Rebek, who won both boards in a meet that had a total of eight different schools participating.

In Chicago, Rebek stole the show. She won both boards, topping the field on 1-meter with a score of 277.25 and the 3-meter with a score of 301.65. Both of her totals were NCAA zone-qualifying scores as well. Therese Missiaen finished seventh in 1-meter (243.55) and eighth on three (252.65).

On the men’s side, Jared Kleczka paced the squad with a third-place effort on 3-meter (NCAA zone score of 341.70) and fourth on 1-meter (286.50).

The team now prepares for the Horizon League Championships, hosted by IUPUI in Indianapolis. The event runs from February 15-18, 2023.
