FINA has announced the logo for the 2022 World Championships. The championships are set to occur in Fukuoka, Japan from May 13-29, 2022.
This is the second time that the city has hosted the World Championships. The original competition was set to take place 20 years after the first time the city held the championships in 2001.

The World Championships were held back in 2001 in Fukuoka. Since those championships, the logo has consistently had at least some part of it be blue, the most common color associated with water. The 2022 World Championships logo continues this trend as the whole logo is blue.
The competition was originally planned for summer of 2021 but was postponed due to COVID-19. Typically, the World Championships take place at the end of July and into the beginning of August. To try and lessen conflict with other big meets, the rescheduled date was moved to May.
The World Championships will take up the year 2022, instead of keeping the year 2021. This is different from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which did not change the year even though the competition took place in 2021, and several other events that were postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022 World Championships begin with the opening ceremony on May 13th at 8:00 pm local time. Competition has diving and artistic swimming from May 13th through the 21st, open water swimming the 14th through 21st, water polo the 15th through the 28th, high diving the 24th through 26th, and swimming the 22nd through the 29th.
The United States is set to have its International Team Trials April 26-30th in Greensboro, North Carolina. The meet will select the team for the 2022 World Championships as well as the World Junior Swimming Championships and the World University Games.
Yawn. There is so much graphic design talent in Japan. Too bad the organizers settled for this. Even the 2012 London Olympics naughty Lisa Simpson logo is better than this.
