WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana State opened up the 2022 portion of the swimming and diving schedule on Friday afternoon as the Sycamores made the trek to the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center for the Purdue Dual Meet. The Sycamores took the event wins in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events on their way to falling to the host Boilermakers, 190-106.

“Overall, I’m really pleased with how we did today,” ISU head swimming and diving coach Josh Christensen said. “It’s been a weird week in a lot of ways and we were missing a chunk of key people, but that didn’t stop us from getting in some solid racing to start the home stretch of the season. We had some places we showed a lot of grit and executed well. There are still some things we need to clean up and that’s what we’ll focus on these next several weeks.”

Emily Webb continued her recent surge in the pool as the senior took home the Sycamores’ first win of the day in the 200 Free. The Edwardsville, Ill. native out-touched Purdue’s Kali Sayovitz by .6 seconds to take the victory for Indiana State.

Chloe Farro followed up later in the event with a win in the 100 Free as the freshman continued her torrid campaign this spring. The Savaneta, Aruba native was first to the wall in the event by .29 as she out-touched Purdue’s Teagen Moon.

Other top performances from the day include standout marks from Rhiannon Wozny and Alexandria Cotter.

Wozny took over five seconds off her season-best time in the event to finish second in the 1000 Free field. Her mark of 10:39.02 was her fastest of the season as she held off teammate Rose Parsons (10:45.60, season-best mark) to touch second in the event.

Cotter touched second in three separate events on the day as the freshman finished tops among the Sycamores in the 200 Fly, 200 Back, and 200 IM. Cotter opened the day finishing second overall in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:05.41. She followed up with another second-place result in the 200 Back with a time of 2:03.49. Her 2:09.49 in the 200 IM put her second in the field in the event as well.
