Reno, Nev. – The Nevada swim team secured wins against the UC Davis Aggies and the Cal State East Bay Pioneers on Saturday. The Pack finished the dual meet against the Aggies with a final score of 167-88. The dual against the Pioneers had a final score of 178-77. Nevada moves to 3-0 in dual meets this season.
“It was a great start to our season,” said head coach Brendon Bray. “I’m very happy with the wins and excited to keep improving in two weeks at Fresno State.”
The meet belonged to Nevada from the start, with the Pack winning all fourteen events of the meet. Starting with the 200 medley relay, Kyla Alexander, Donna dePolo, Josien Wijkhuijs, and Caitlyn McHugh won with a time of 1:44.44.
Senior Reese Lamph picked up the first individual win for the Pack in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:46.57. Senior Mikayla Dance followed Lamph and secured second place with a time of 10:55.84.
Senior Mariana Vignoli picked up two individual wins for the Pack in the 200 free and 500 free with times of 1:54.06 and 5:08.85, respectively. Senior, McHugh, finished second in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.76. McHugh also picked up her individual win in the 100 free with a time of 53.69.
Senior, Wijkhuijs secured individual wins in multiple events. The Friesland, Netherlands native finished on top with a time of 56.36 in the 100 back, 24.51 in the 50 free, and 55.92 in the 100 fly.
Continuing the breaststroke tradition, the Pack secured the top three times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Senior, Wiktoria Samula led the team with a time of 1:03.34, followed by dePolo (1:04.17), and Gianni Pitto (1:06.92). Samula also won the 200, with a time of 2:19.03, followed by Pitto (2:25.45) and Dance (2:27.85)
2021 Mountain West Champions Julia Adamczyk and Benedict Nagy finished on top in the 200 fly. Adamczyk won with a time of 2:09.15 while Nagy swam in 2:09.86. Nagy picked up her individual win in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.31. She also swam the 200 IM and finished with a time of 2:08.68.
NEXT UP FOR THE PACK
The Nevada swim team hits the road to Fresno, Calif. to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs on Nov. 5. The Nevada dive team will have their debut dual meet, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete against Arkansas on Nov. 13.

Reno, Nev. – UC Davis went on the road for the first time in 2021, making the drive to Reno to face Nevada and CSU East Bay but falling to the Wolf Pack 88-167 in a dual on Saturday.
Junoir Dani Fasan was the Aggies’ high scorer, finishing third in the 50 Free (25.10), third in the 100 Free (53.87), and helping the Aggies ‘A’ relay teams to a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:47.41) and first in the 400 Free Relay (3:37.14).
Freshman Kaitlyn Yee also took second in the 200 Back (2:09.24) and third in the 100 Back (59.48).
The Aggies have a short week before heading south for an MPSF dual against UC San Diego on Oct. 30.

RENO, Nev. — The Cal State East Bay swim team performed well against stiff competition in Saturday’s dual match against the University of Nevada and UC Davis.
Senior Isabel Rishwain more than held her own on Saturday, placing third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1-minutes, 57.74-seconds. Rishawin finished behind only two Nevada seniors.
In addition, junior Leah Robinson was third in the 1000 freestyle with a mark of 11:06.37.
Freshman Emma Knott earned fourth place in the 100 butterfly after posting a time of 59.58, while sophomore Chenoa Bodero finished fourth in the 200 IM at 2:16.77.
CSUEB returns to action next weekend at the Bay Area Invite hosted by Mills College at Trefethen Aquatics Center beginning on Friday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m.
